Memories change but it takes lot of effort to change "tendencies". Our instincts, sub conscious fears come from deeper layer. New cells have the same genes. So ala carry forward aipotaayi |

You are not the same person as you were 18 months ago - quite literally. Each and every cell in your body has been replaced with new ones. You share absolutely nothing physically with that person. So, are you the same person or a new one? Mentally, we are always changing. At what point we become completely new? What connects us to that person in your past? Consciousness? What if you are a murderer and your memory has completely been wiped (as a death sentence) and you are given a new lease of life. You are not the same person. You are a blank slate and learning things from the beginning. You just have someone else's body (18 months ie). How are you related to the other person? (This is from Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance written by Robert Pirsig) People change - literally. Still, they remain who they are. Fascinating. The cells transmit consciousness between one another. This world appearance is a confusion: even as the blueness of the sky is an optical illusion. I think it is better not to let the mind dwell on it, but to ignore it. |
