Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is peeved at Narendra Modi saying that KCR displayed more maturity than Naidu and that Chandrababu had been outsmarted by the younger YS Jagan. At every public meeting he has been attending in recent times, Chandranna has been raising this issue and thundering, “I am the most mature and I became the CM even before Modi.” Let us take the Chief Minister’s words at face value and admit that he is indeed far more mature than Modi or anyone else. What has this got for the State in the last four years? Has there been even an iota of progress in the State? No attention is being paid to actual Andhra Pradesh and all focus has been centred on the illusory town called Amaravati. On the one hand, he says the State finances are in a very bad position and on the other; he reels off growth figures that leave even World Bank officials in awe. How is this contradiction to be understood? Amaravati is the biggest real-estate venture in the world by the company called TDP which is being designed at the expense of the Andhra people’s tax money. Kurnool, Tirupati, Vizag and other prominent cities do not figure at all in the TDP’s scheme of things. Is this maturity? When the Chief Minister got a fresh lease of life at Alipiri, everyone hoped that he would at least become people-centric after the unfortunate incident. But, after coming to power in 2014, he has only become son-centric and community-centric.
