nope, Portuguese and Spanish raided coasts many times enslaving freemen when they had nothing to barter or offseason...
yes and no...before 1500s there is a system of that sort...but enslaved would be freed at some point in their life .... but the trade had brought 2 things 1)raiding opposite tribes exclusively for humans...(before its war for honor and land after 1500s its war for men). 2)European gunpowder, rum, manufactured goods bartered for men...as the need for luxury grew for them in nobility more people enslaved and sold.... its a chain reaction which caused triangle trade...no hope for people to their native lands.... in fact Portuguese fought a war with locals in Angola to establish this slave trade post....which lead to Portuguese angola till 1975... Portuguese,iberians and pope louis are to blame first for this to happen,.... that pope made a declaration saying all non Christians/ adherents are not people but "things" and "objects"....disgusting.... man in love. | ||

Because most of these slaves are caught during wars between tribes and were sold. Europeans were the middleman and buyers but not the ones captured. It used to be a Custom in olden days where men of opposite side in war are killed and women and children are taken as slaves. today I read a book about transatlantic slave trade... according to meyer j sklaverei 1991....10.2 million were transported as slaves from 5 regions of the west coast of Africa from 1600 to 1850.... top 2 countries in this filth are 1)Portugal 2)England.... its like whole region is depopulated loosing 50-70% of whole population.... still I find it astonished ...there is no big rebellion against Portuguese or britan what so ever...these people are submissive.... in just 100 years of British rule...Indians rebelled 100s of times large scale everywhere till these guys are vacated....except tamil guys who submitted fully..... I am wondering why these people are so submissive?? cant they rebel?? loosing self-respect vs death ...think most in medieval India would have chosen second. man in love. |
