MS authentication mechanisms have been painful.. i think they have realized that. Anyway, when it comes to crowd sourced and social systems, i dont foresee them making changes to auth mechanisms | ||

same here. we have on-prem instance of GitLab for our company. We use Jenkins for CI and post all artifacts to artifactory (again local/on-prem) which proxies external repos. Out security team would allow to use GitHub though. | ||

I dont think so. But they may integrate existing MS accounts to the existing github accounts. Take a look at Skype. I had an account when its Skype on its own. Then paypal bought, no account change. Now MS has integrated my skype account to my hotmail account(now I can login with my skype id or hotmail id) So, this is not a big deal to manage | ||

I have set up GitLab on premise for a Bank. Security concerned firms host their own git repos :-) I like DockerHub too but with a different perspective of packaged code hosting. | ||

no they won't. They didn't do that with Linkedin, no reason why would they do it with Github. They would probably give SSO with MS account as an option but don't think it would be the only one. | ||

I hope they keep GitHub as is with minimal branding changes. I hate the single sign-on which they eventually implement, will force you to have a Microsoft account to get access to GitHub. | ||
