Till a couple of months ago, power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan was not confident of his own strength.

He used to refrain from talking about his plans to contest the elections on his own, let alone trying for capturing power.

In fact, Pawan used to take pot shots at YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for claiming that he would definitely come to power and fulfil the unfinished agenda of his late father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

âThere is no need to become the chief minister, if you really have to do service to the people,â the Jana Sena Party chief used to say.

But now, Pawan has completely changed his mind-set. He has realised that if he does not stake claim for power, people will not take him seriously. That is precisely why he has transformed himself into full-fledged politician and is going all out with an eye on power.

On Friday, Pawan told media persons that if given opportunity, he would become the next chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

âI have come into politics only because the Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Partya have failed miserably to fulfil the promises given to the people. If people give me an opportunity in 2019 elections, I will come to power and form the next government in the state,â he said.

The Jana Sena Party already asserted that it would contest all the 175 assembly constituencies and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the next elections.

If he does not have any alliances with any other party or a secret understanding with any national or regional party, Pawanâs real strength could be tested in the next elections.
