It's funny!!! why did they go to SC in the first place? The constitution is different and the convention is different. SC would strictly follow the constitution. And, as per the constitution, there is no notion of a Party. Hence, the governor can ideally invite anyone and offer the CM position with the predicament that the appointee should prove the majority in any of the two houses within 6 months. This is very broad or high-level definition. However, by convention, we know that only the majority party leader is called.
