Technical gaa YES, they MUST provide a copy to you. Why? H1 is a dual intent visa Intent 1) Permission to live(non resident alien) Intent 2) Permission to work for the sponsoring US employer. You must always prove that the intent 1) above is true when a law enforcement requires to prove that you are legally living here. If such situation comes, all you should do is to let the law enforcement know that your employer didnt provide a copy and what you know is these details(of employer). Law enforcement would check it with them. Tell law enforcement to have a copy for you from the employer :-) All you need to do is to have a pay check running form that employer at any time. | ||

This is right. But even if you dont have that number also, when you are renewing or a new H1 petition is being filed, you can mention this fact that the previous employer didnt give these details and here is the details of previous H1 employer ani letter meeda raasi, give the details. USCIS will pull the copy and attach to the new filing(its just not to count your new petition under the annual quota, nothing else for that need). These crook employers tried to play on the gullible with these cheap tricks. Just knowledge is power. Dont worry. | ||
