Much to the delight of Mahesh's fans, one gets to see him playing a young CM in Bharat Ane Nenu. Resisting the temptation to make a political thriller, Koratala Siva once again comes up with a story that shows off his unique style of story-telling. Times of India: Bharat Ane Nenu isn't your usual political drama full of mind games and manipulation. The film revolves around a larger-than-life hero, a bad guy (several of them in fact), a love interest, and a bit of family drama to go along with it. The only difference here is that the hero also happens to be the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. In fairness to Koratala Siva, he has unabashedly declared that Bharat Ane Nenu is a fictional political drama and transports the viewers into his fictional political atmosphere, where one man tries to bring a change. Hindustan Times: An actor like Mahesh Babu who is restrained on screen and doesn’t believe in loud performances is the perfect pick for the role. The hard-hitting dialogues, when delivered in his trademark subtle style, pack an added punch. Bharat Ane Nenu manages something that Spyder couldn’t for Mahesh Babu. In Bharat Ane Nenu, Mahesh Babu has the best of what commercial cinema has to offer – a strong subject, a tight film and a role he can chew on. Firstpost.com: Throughout the film, there’s no sense of urgency and quite evidently, Koratala Siva lets the audience soak themselves with everything he has written. As a result, even a scene featuring an unnamed farmer or a villager is treated with the same respect and importance as that of a scene featuring Mahesh Babu. Here, the story is bigger than its hero. This sort of narrative style has pretty much been consistent in Koratala Siva’s filmography so far, and the director treats the story as a set of building blocks. It’s only in the second half that you truly begin to understand the depth in his writing and how he strips every scene to its bare essentials to focus on conflict and the simmering tension between two characters. Thenewsminute.com: While it is not a pathbreaking, breath-taking political drama, Bharat Ane Nenu is likable for the subtle acting and situational comedy which can make the exaggeration-addicted Telugu audience laugh if they are bought into the story. The movie falls short in emotional moments, more due to indifference of the makers than due to the lack of scope - moments we found dime-a-dozen in Koratala Siva’s Mirchi and Srimanthudu. TheHansindia: Bharath Ane Nenu is one of those political dramas that we always wanted to witness on the screen. As said by the makers, there is not even a single controversial incident in the movie. The film looks thought-provoking yet straightforward. There are multiple situations in the film which will make us think about the society and the future generations. We always wanted a leader like Bharath Ram working for us, and Koratala Siva has correctly translated the same on to the screen. The Hindu: Bharat Ane Nenu deserves a thumbs up for its well thought out plot and nuanced characters. Keeping us hooked to the narrative are Mahesh Babu, accompanied by Prakash Raj in another winsome and complex role, Rahul Ramakrishna, Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji and Kiara Advani among others. Kiara is impressive in her limited role and it will be interesting to see her in more substantial parts No Signature |
