I think he is worried that he will be struck in Level 2 position and can't move up the ladder to Level 4 since prevailing wages are 30% more than Level2. Since company isn't ready to give that much pay hike, he will never get to have "Sr" in job title, which actually matters quite a lot when you are trying to switch jobs. | ||

Looks like California CA companies able to negotiate/lobbied for better PWAs. I don't see much impact on CA company employees. The just adjusted to what ever they are paying now. Texas companies failed to do that, or it's intentional.  | ||

Last week, my Lat-Mgr dropped a bomb telling about PWA changes by govt for this year in our city. He was saying they are discouraged by PWA suggested by govt and no longer willing to hire new sponsored positions as they are not able to keep up with ever increasing wages. I was asking for my career growth (to level-4), he was honestly said, they were trying to retain existing positions and it's becoming challenging for them. The guys that are at Level-4 (2016-17) were used to pay 2018 Level-3 pwa wages. But 2018 numbers looking too much for my org. To retain L-4 employees they are willing to increase their PWAs but not ready to promote L-2/3 to L-4 (senior). My pay has a huge gap and to reach that at my org's wage-increase-pace it's going to take lot of years (5-6). Understanding that my career officially stalled and I got frustrated. But kept thinking, If I push hard, it may even cost my job here. I am screwed.  |
