Mrhyderabad:

But 2nd kid almost 20 months now but not talking yet.. not even small words.. I think that's ok because some kids start talking little late..

This is alarming. Better take him to multiple doctors for opinion. Some of the doctors are idiots and they dont know what the hell they are talking.

Mrhyderabad:

ilaantivi chaala sensitive issues kadaa so not sure if we should even bring up this discussion with the parents or suggest as they may take it as offense

Definitely talk to friends and people. Better be insulted and have a healthy kid than the other way around. Important thing is if the kid is behind on fundamental skills, its a red alert.

Maverick:

how does he play with the first kid?

Very little... konchem dooram gaa vundi he plays on his own... older kid wants to play with him but he rarely plays with her.

Maverick:

is there a social smile strangers or parents?

very rarely.. if you make an effort for like 10 mins then you will get a smile

He is very cute kid... konchem chubbu so even more cuter... maa friends gang lo he is the youngest so all of us have been trying to play with him or pick him up... but so far no luck...

doesn't even give hi-five

Maverick:

and ask ur friend to be in this world and interact with kid as much as possible..

due to visa issues, he can't change employer... so he is traveling consultant... so he is home only 3 days a week. Wife also works.

I have been telling them to put him in day care so he will get socialized but they prefer in home nanny for some reason
Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein

Ya, antibiotics will kill good and bad bacteria

But before even they born their gut is already infected

If we can treat the gut than brain inflammation can be treated

And kids can get into normal growth

makes sense.

my personal theory (not scientific) is the antibiotics that we give for ear-infections..
most kids can handle fine but some kids gut ecology goes for a toss..and that triggers intestinal bacteria impacting brain development

Mrhyderabad:

if he is such a cheddy dost from childhood I don't see any issue talking to him. after all you are his well wisher (hituDu) not just a "friend". English lo aite friend kaani telugu lo chala words unnayi to identify the proximity and closeness.

I would discuss the issue no matter the consequences of the talk reason being a child's life is involved. An early detection and if it helps the kid I have no issue taking the bash if that's what happens.

talk to them. 20 month old and not responding to name on top addicted to smart device. raise the flag ASAP

nene chesina research lo telisindi enti ante toomuch of processed food in US..

excessive omega6 in processing foods, from child to mother gets it..

other factors pollution, altered genes and DNA

thine food lo if there is no balance between omega3 and omega6 it will develop intestinal bacteria, this will effect the brain development

hence the developmental delays..

same feeling here.. there seems to be a spike.
I cant call it heightened awareness as these issues are very apparent and have big consequences on families.

Mrhyderabad:

Friend wife pakkana lenappudu maa vaadiki cheppi choodali with subtle hints...

dont use words like autism vunkl... just express concern that he is not responding, and you have seen similar thing happen with another friend and they got some speech therapy or something that helped tremendously... just mention if he thinks it will help you will get more info...

start it and leave it to them.. if they get back to you.. you can take the conversation forward...

try calling him when he is not watchin videos or idle. if he still doesn't respond or seems lost, its a concern and needs to be addressed asap. is there a social smile strangers or parents? how does he play with the first kid? say first kid takes a toy, he goes to parents crying/complaining.. your friend should keep observing all these rather than you doing it during ur temp visits

Not responding is a red flag.
Lucky many snap out and become normal...unlucky few will develop other developmental issues.
For some reason, primary Pediatricians are slow to suggest or escalate.(based on personal experience and 2 other first-hand cases)
If you feel parents will get offended or defensive.. suggest them to take kid for Early-child-intervention and give an example of how a similar issue was resolved in a couple of months because of intervention . no need to mention autism.

Mental_sachinodu:

if close enough... talk to them. i know most parents are in denial,

Pfan:

especially desi families are in denial mode, see if you can inform them indirectly..

yeah cheddi dost... so we talk openly.. but kid / autism is totally different league ani hesitating

kid was raised in india until 14 months... last 6 months here

both my kids and friend's elder one play together but this little one plays on his own...

almost every week we meet for something or the other.. but still he doesn't come to any of us or any other neighbors

you can sit right next to him or opp to him and call his name... no response.

Friend wife pakkana lenappudu maa vaadiki cheppi choodali with subtle hints...

if close enough... talk to them. i know most parents are in denial, and from experience most parents already would have noticed and the thoughts must be lingering in their minds....

its a tough call. i did talk to my friend, but it helped because im a parent who is going through this already... and they took it fairly well... but dont be blunt.

i see a concern here, not responding to name is a red flag

late talking or some developmental milestones are ok, but not responding to name is a big concern

first step is go for hearing test, next visit developmental pediatrician

also you can observe for repetitive behavior etc..

i know it is sensitive issue, oka sari just conversation lo autism word use chesinandu ku other family chala serious ayyaru, i didn't even associated some one has autism

especially desi families are in denial mode, see if you can inform them indirectly..

Close friend vaalla first kid antaa normal. But 2nd kid almost 20 months now but not talking yet.. not even small words.. I think that's ok because some kids start talking little late.. my sys's kid also started talking after 2 years... now chatter box

But at 20 months, kids respond when you call them by their name right? I don't remember exact time, but my kids / my cousin kids started responding to name after 1st year

However my friend's kid doesn't even turn his head no matter how loud you scream his name

But he watches youtube videos and dances.. so there is no hearing problem i guess

not sure if it matters but he doesn't play with any other kids or doesn't come to anyone else except his parents even though he sees quite often

just development delay ani wait and watch or better to take it to doc

ilaantivi chaala sensitive issues kadaa so not sure if we should even bring up this discussion with the parents or suggest as they may take it as offense
