First of all how do you calculate median income? Tax system is very different in UK to US. You pay lot of tax in US on H1. Where as in UK, if you are contracting/business which most of the people prefer , they pay minimum tax to govt and rest they take out as expenses. for eg - IT contractor who makes avg 450 per day, he will open a limited company and gets all money into company account and he will be the sole director. He will take out minimum as salary 11k per annum and rest as dividends and expenses. Now when govt or any agency collates the information, they consider your regular income (in this case its your salary). Per statistics, person who is earning 9000 pounds per month is earning just under a grand every month, that doesnt makes sense. Anyways coming to the topic, Indian community is flourishing here, dont go by stats. Also why do you care man? When people living in this country are happy and leading a comfortable life, why do you come up with this ridiculous stats. Of course there will be some percentage of indians who are less than median (doing odd jobs) , its the same case as US. Have a nice weekend and have fun. Yeah first 3 months in UK coming from US had same views (Not racism but accent and culture) as i was staying in london .. there are some desi parts in london which make you feel that way. once you move our of london, which is where you will see real england .. Middle england is very good, as you move up the north , you will see real good people. Ofcourse there will always be sect who dont like immigrants irrespective of the country but from my experience , UK is very good place to live and settle (they really care for human life) Not sure how long you lived in UK , may be you were on holiday and started to show off US accent with desi mix, ofcouse crowd here has got very good sense of humour , which is very difficult for desis in america to comprehend. I struggled a bit but now i love it. | ||

Australia IT market is small (Most of the jobs are in SYDNEY, MELBOURNE & CANBERRA). But people who do odd jobs make same money as average IT person. People are very friendly, laid back and no racism (I have not experienced any). Don't believe the Indian media bullshit about racism in Australia. House prices are expensive. I think it depends on personal preference. I lived in both US and UK(currently residing). when i was in US , i had similar opinion as most of the people in DB about other countries other than US. I got an opportunity to move to UK (senior position) for a year and thought it will be good for me to go around Europe. That one year changed my perception about lot of things. When i was in US, it was routine rat race .. around only desis (social life) and usual things what we do common parties, potlucks, desi vacations, movies, restaurants etc..my neighbours(only social white couple) were good friends, however they were restricted to tea dates .. I know its me , i am sure lot of people in this DB has different view and differnt exp After moving to UK, may be the school(private school - that could be difference) that i am sending my kids, started to go out with different people from different backgrounds. Started to get baby sitters(we never used in US) and go out for comedy nights, fine dining, summer balls, black tie events. Also has good desi circle , now even if i have opportunity to move to US back, I am not inclined. Got my PR and waiting for citizen ship. Good pay, very comfortable life and very good circle will make lot of difference than usual hangu bongus ... my 2 cents.. As mentioned earlier, everyone experience is different.. | ||
