as a kid Bhagath singh was an inspiration... hair strands raise ayyevi... whenever i read about bhagath sing or azad. Between, read about Gandhi's views on death sentence. then read about Gandhi-Irwin pact that was going on, and also the his letters to viceroy about Rajguru, Sukhdev and Bhagath singh they were ignored BEFORE the trial. once the trial happened, they were hanged as soon as possible, even while Gandhi was sending another letter about them. but they were hastily hanged, citing they are unable to contain the disturbance caused by the popularity of the trio. Now, about getting Gandhi and congress on board about the acts itself was another attempt by the british to malign both violent and non-violent movements. Frontline had an article with links to various resources.. ippudu vethike opika ledhu... its well documented what was going on back then. between, Gandhi was manhandled by lahore or karachi youth that he is not taking more active role in bhagath sing's trial, even when he explained to them that he has sent various communications, but his power is limited. | ||

ofcourse ilanti post tho vasthaav ani expect sesaan.... dont you think there is no logic to this? they comitted a crime under the British law, and they were already given a death sentence. now, except for the Queen no one has the ability to change that sentence. East india company was trying to undermine Gandhi and congress and they were trying to tie them to violent revolutionaries. if Gandhi and the Congress got involved with the violent crimes comitted by revolutionaries, they would have lost their claim on non-violent approach for freedom. As a person, I love Bhagath Singh, but based on what had transpired, it is ridiculous to think Gandhi should have supported him or stopped his death. Even if he were to be alive, he would have been prision for his life. Bhagath singh's fast for 119 days made him a hero of the masses... and after that British high comission hastened his trial to the extent that a case filed against the trial being sped up. his sentence was death by hanging, even when there were pending cases on the nature of the trial. the british were hell bent on having him exectued... Gandhi and Nehru deliberately let Bhagat singh, SukhDev and Raj guru be hanged. In other words, they were in a rush to get them hanged. This issue was publicly told by British general who executed them. He said that if he had received any letter from Gandhi/Nehru for pardoning them, he would have let those three alive.
