New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an interactive session with students from schools across the country during his "Pariksha Par Charcha" event in Delhi's Talkatora stadium on Friday. Girish Singh, a class 11th student, in a candid conversation, posed a question to PM Narendra Modi on his preparations for the Lok Sabha polls in 2019. Girish said that he "wanted to know if the Prime Minister, too, is nervous for the board exams that he will be facing next year." The question brought a smile on the PM's face during the session and he suggested Girish could take journalism as a career option for his smart way of questioning. Answering his question, the PM said that the entire 1.2 billion people of the country were with him and hence he had no reason to worry about the polls. "I was elated to hear the Prime Minister's advice, but, I want to be a doctor. That is my prime focus," said Girish. The event was held two weeks after the launch of Exam Warriors, a book penned by PM Modi. Students at the venue, who have read the book, said that they feel the mantras mentioned in the book were effective to fight examination stress. On Twitter, many students used the hashtag #ExamWarriors to ask questions. Students Deepshikha from Delhi, and Kartik from BHU, asked the Prime Minister on how to deal with parental pressure, particularly during exams. Deepshikha told CNN-News18 that "the Prime Minister suggested that children must not doubt their parents and the parents must not "transplant" their dreams into their children." PM Modi requested parents that "they should not make the achievements of their child a matter of social prestige. Every child is blessed with unique talent." PM Modi, in a lighter vein, said, "Children in India are born with the streak of a politician." Students from all across the country sent their questions to the Prime Minister via social media, TV news channels, Narendra Modi app, etc. PM Modi also shared anecdotes from his childhood urging the students to think beyond marks, prepare for a better life and not just deal with examination stress. He also gave life mantras on increasing self-confidence, focus, concentration, parental pressure and success. Nearly 3,000 school and college students attended the program at Talkatora stadium. Besides those present at the venue, thousands of students from across India also participated through video conferencing. Talking the importance of the teacher-student relationship, PM Modi said that "teachers must come forward for the holistic development for a child's future." He laid emphasis on the student-teacher bond and trust. PM Modi, at the end of his address, asked his "young friends" to give him marks out of 10 for his session.
