As good as Chung was, beating an off-campus Djokovic is not an indication of his ability to beat Federer. Chung at this point has great court coverage, defense, deceptive power on both wings and and an incredibly strong n fit young body. What he doesn't have is a good serve, variety and more importantly - Experience. All said and done, he is no Djokovic/Nadal who can handle Fed. Fed is a master of the game. At this point of his career, he has good form and fitness, variety, a great serve and way too much experience to handle someone like Chung. Fed shall serve great, come to the net more often and finish points quickly hereby not giving Chung any rhythm on baseline rallies. Either Chung has to play the match of his life or Fed needs to have a real bad day with his UE count for an upset. Chung shall have his time still, but just not yet. Fed always had trouble against upcoming players with tremendous defense and retrieval skills in the beginning stages of their respective rivalries.. adjusted slowly over the time against the likes of Nadal, Murray.. Doesn’t work that way.. ranking is always based on ur prior yr performance at the tourneys u are entering this year.. so if Fed has to maintain his current ranking pts he needs to win the tourney this yr too or else the difference pts will drop off.. So Rafa will be losing 1200 - 360 pts for his early exit this yr.. but that difference will still not make up for Fed to attain no. 1 if he were to win here.. it’s actually tough for Fed to get to no.1 before April.. and even after that he has to show up in clay season and expect Rafa to not match his performance there from last season.. If Fed wins Dubai or plays some additional tourneys compared to last yr he may’ve a chance.. but then it still depends on how Rafa performs too.. | ||

Even I thought much abt Zverev.....but at present....he is unable to tough it out physically in Grandslams. He hasn't even reached quarters in last 6 Grandslams he played... He was able to get a Masters due to non availability of legends. End of the day, Grandslams performance matters. Zverev shud get stronger to make an impact in 2nd week of Grandslams. Chung on the other hand beat Zverev in prequarters and gave him a bagel in 5th set! Chung seems physically much prepared to take on the grinds of Grandslams. He looks crazy fit and quipped tht he cud run 2 more hrs after Djoko match. His playing style also has a lot more maturity compared to ball bashing of other youngsters. He also won ATP Next Gen Championship last November which featured the best talents under 21 yrs and there were sm seriously good guys there. Check out the highlights. | ||

You are playing at an age when most tennis players used to walk into the sunset and now to complain that the scheduling is bad is just bad sportsmanship, but i guess that is another day in office for Nadal. If you have crossed 30, then stop playing as many tournaments, nobody asked him to chase the No.1 and play all the tournaments. Just pick the clay court season and play for the next 5 years. Biggest upset of the QF so far..... Gregor Dimitrov falls to unheralded Kyle Edmund, who had a snails chance of Semis. The courts are playing fast and the Big serving and Big Hitting Kyle took full advantage of it. Dimitrov after his high of Kyrgios match which made him one of the favourites, had major issues with his 2nd serve and committed too many unforced errors in the big points. Though it is still anyone's Tourney, Ranking the QFinalists based on who has shown the most impressive form till now: 1. Dmitrov - He is playing full of confidence after WTF win and was outstanding against a rampaging Kyrgios and an inform Rublev. Best chance to grab his first AO. Edmund nxt is a NID. 2. Berdych - Big Berd's feeling good after a long time, hitting the ball cleanly and got his mojo back. He demolished a good Delpo and mercurial Fognini in straights. In one line, he is Bad News for Fed in next round. 3. Tennys - The wildcard of the pack. This guy had to go through Qualifiers to get into main draw and has been cleaning up since. Took out Wawrinka and a hot Thiem in the process. Playing like a Boss at the moment with no nerves. 4. Chung - It is all abt the Young South Korean sensation who has ramped it up Oppa Gangnam Style. Best of the Young Gen arguably and taken out a hot Zverev and a hot n cold Novak who despite not being his best is the legend at AO. Matured and fearless tennis ala Baby Djoko. 5. Nadal - Looks strong with an impressive run. Lost a set when his real test came up via Diego Schwartzman. Hadn't had to move out of 4th gear though. Might need his 5th against Cilic next. 6. Federer - Cruised to QF with literally no real test. True Current Level unknown. Suddenly a big threat looms next round as Berdych is playing hot. 7. Cilic - Doing what he does best. Cleaning the field till QFs. Looked strong but not yet his USO level special. Nadal nxt wud loom like a mountain. 8. Edmund - Luckiest QFinalist thus far with no great threat. Shall become Dimi's breakfast though. All said and done, Finals is a different ball game. Fedal being legends cud scrape thru till Finals and get into Beast modes like they usually do. But from wat was seen this far, the above stands true. 2nd week is all about playing Big Guns and handling pressure. Something tells me we might have a new AO Champ this year. | ||

All these juniors have been flattering to deceive. Over the last two years, not one has risen to the occasion or shown a real glimpse of what Tennis future can be like. Zverev, Thiem, Kyrgios, Dmitrov, Raonic - not one has come to the party. To lose to 30+ year old (or 35+ year olds) who have not played active tennis for many months really separates the men from the boys, literally. Ika pothe, not having Djoker and Murray on the road has hurt men's tennis big time. Nadal and Fed are playing selectively and conserving themselves for Slams and the smaller tourneys are hit. Not a great time for tennis, per se. | ||
