State And Local Taxes (SALT). If your state doesn't have income tax, but high(er) property taxes + Sales tax (if they are > 10K) then you will be impacted. Only caveat is you can't prepay income tax (prohibited as written in the new tax bill) or sales tax for next year, but you can prepay property taxes so that's why the rush in some states | ||

New cap of 10K is for both state income taxes + local + property taxes. that's why folks in high tax states like NY, NJ, CT are rushing to pre-pay some of their 2018 property taxes this year. You will lose a significant chunk of your itemized deductions due to this 10K limit | ||
