So going through the links given here...(as per some comments below, Looks like DIY kit is mandatory even after professional service)

Not necessarily... Professionals give u warranty of 30 days minimum..... if u still have problem after the treatment, they will do it for free...

Sesani:

What is ur level of infestation? Are you literally seeing them crawling around?? then the infestation is very high and u definitely need a professional help..

I would highly recommend NOT to spray anything from local stores... This will make the bugs move in to the walls and cracks and the infestation will grow exponentially... sincere advice..

If ur infestation is very low, you can try DIY but that is always risky because bed bugs can hide in cracks as thin as credit card and stay there for months together.. spraying the store stuff may not really drag them out and make them inhale it...

I know people who did DIY treatment and were successful after few months but remember that if the infestation is already huge it wont work... plus if DIY really worked for everybody there wouldnt be any pest control companies around.. there is a reason why they are called professionals..

Call and professional and get an estimate... he will inspect the rooms for infestation and suggest the necessary treatment process...

Bed bug treatment can be categorized in to 3 processes -

Chemical - 3 chemical treatments 18 days apart... the reason for 18 days is first treatment they kill adults, 2nd the young adults which hatch after the first treatment, and 3rd as a back up just in case... this is a very inexpensive long as tedious process.. it takes close to 2 months to get rid of them... also the worst part is you have to wash everything in ur home... literally everything... long and tedious process overall but it will work..

Heat treatment - Very expensive but effective and easy .. will cost up to 100-150 for 100 sq ft depending on the home size and layout... u dnt have to wash anything, no manual effort expect for some precautions.. the professional will bring huge heating machines and heat all the rooms (or may be few) up to 140 degrees F... bed bugs and eggs die around 118 degrees... this is a one day thing.. u can get rid of beg bugs just in 1 day..

Instant freeze - idi light...

There is an option to get your bed steam treated which is around 200-300 bucks...

After the treatment dont forget to get the bed bug covers for your mattress..

Talk to the professional abt the warrant... some folks promise 3 months of warrant.. especially heat...

All the best... it tough but not impossible... so hang in there...

thanks for the detailed post bro. 2 vendors inspected. Only 1 room is infested, early stages, could have been ~4 weeks old. I am not sure between DIY or Professionals. So going through the links given here...(as per some comments below, Looks like DIY kit is mandatory even after professional service)

Maverick:

how do you reaslise if u have bed bugs?

By beg bug bites on ur body... that being said not every body gets a swelling with the bite... only 30% humans get the swelling..

The bite will have a pattern to it... most of the times its on hands or back depending on how u sleep...

Beg bugs get attracted to CO2 and heat.... when something or somebody is emitting CO2 constantly for few hrs they get attracted to it and come crawling towards you...

bed bugs are present only where they can suck blood... anagaa u wont find them in bathrooms, attic, kitchen or garage etc... unless u carry them there...

only things that really works is to call the professionals. eventhough the diy stuff works we cannot go into each and everycorner or each and everything they live/hide/hibernate in. they can live without food and water for 6 months. professionals know their hiding spots. call terminix . it takes 2-3 months to completely get rid of them and they guarantee their work.

diatomaceous earth get this

dust it below and around the bed and bed frame, where ever you think bed bugs is going to crawl

keep sleeping on the bed, eventually they will die in couple of weeks..

this is the best way with out using harmful chemicals
