Sincere advise, these are the things I look for when I am hiring for my team

1) Competence - Does this person have the technical competence and experience to do the job effectively?

2) Judgement - Exercising good judgement especially under pressure

3) Energy - Bringing right kind of energy to the team (mainly looking to weed out candidates who are burned out in their previous jobs)

4) Focus - Capable of setting priorities and sticking to them

5) Relationships - Getting along with other team members and support collective decision making

6) Trust - Follow through on commitments

see if you are lacking any of these attributes and improve up on

Hmm- usually they do not expect to to finish though - ma vallu scenario completion kanna thought process makes sense or not ani chustaru - but for that the candidate had to think aloud and talk thru their approach ... it may differ company to company though :-) try a few diff techniques like this next time ...

:-) Good that you don't express the cynicism overtly .., but as Bushi said if you feel it , it comes cross in a myriad ways ...masking it , is not change I was talking about .. you actual have to believe in people and give them the benefit of doubt .,

Also the traits you listed above are a perfect profile for a contractor ... people look for more when hiring an FTE...not just how well you do your job but how would you help build the team in future ...not just do your job but help others improve - of course tech acumen is basic need but all these other qualities are critical too ..so when interviewing if you Are able to weave in examples of how you contributed to another's growth that is always a good thing !

And btw - your planes trains comment completely went over my head :-) what were you trying to say ?

too much feel aithaunnaaru...konchem cooling avvandi...

In my observation there are 3 kinds of people...

first batch, they are always content with what they have, same job with same salary life long chesukunna no issues veellaki....their philosophy is, if you are not happy with what you currently have, you will never be happy with anything else too...

inkoka batch untaaru, they don't like their job and they want to find a better job..ippudaa better job ki vellaaka kooda in a few years they will feel the same again....constantly grow avvali anukune vaallu veellu....so these people should be enjoying the process of growing (which involves looking for new jobs and shifting frequently)...aadevado director cheppinattu, we enjoy the process of making cinema, final result hit or flop not important laaga...

ika 3rd batch, unna job gurinchi eppudooo complaints chesthaa untaaru, kottha jobs ki try cheyyaru..veellu life long cribbing batchi...

Try to be easy on yourself and your surrounding people. Dont judge them! Live your life and let them live their life. Dont take anything to heart. Keep smiling. Stop over analysing and comparing with others. You never know whats in store for you in future. keep surviving until luck knocks your door.

As a person who never went through a formal interview process for a job, I find it extremely difficult and scary to be interviewed and i can imagine the pressure can be immense. I have come to the decision recently that I will start attending interviews, although i feel guilty that I might be wasting valuable time of others.

Anyway - i did interview alot of folks, and as an interviewer, it is more of the personality than the skills that filter most of the folks. unless you see some more than exceptional technical skill.

Anyway - may be easier to say, but we should already know why we were being rejected. In an interview, you have the same amount of time as the interviewer, and you are also assessing the interviewer. You would know what the interviewer is looking for in you, and whether you are capable of that, and if he is seeing that. But if you are not able to access the interviewer, then you and interviewer are not even on the same plane.

Nice:

Mee last post type lo meeru undetattu aithe kastam mastaru.

ippudu DB lo open gaa all work-places are the same, there is blame-games, politics. maname vunnaam, work pakkanna petti yentha mandi yenni saarlu DBing cheskuntaa koorcholedu? including you and me? and then, -and-bull stories in status-calls and stand-ups. that is how I think. What's wrong in clarifying that that's not how I behave in real-life? specially in interviews. max composed gaane vuntaanu. tala-tikka questions adigithey koodaa.. ok, this is gone ani fix avuthaa tappithey, I rarely argue.
Mentoring is a two-way task. specially personally kalavakundaa, ilaa DB based ayithe, online persona basis meeda opinionated suggestions vundochhu. which is also good, but if I don't have the opportunity to voice my clarifications, then there's no point even. Ikkada yevvarni tippi kottatamledu. Probably something that I am missing, yevaraina suggest cheyagalaremo ani seeking advice.
To me, interviews are a two-way evaluation as well. I evaluate the team, the people I speak to, their interviewing capabilities etc. of course tala-tikka questions adigithey vaallu offer ichhinaa nenu teeskonu.. I strongly believe we go to an interview only to give answers and get selected anukunte, that is very naive.
After looking at BiggBoss post about building NFLX and UBER apps in 45 mins, I have come to realize that the bar of acceptance is definitely way higher here in NYC and East Coast in-general. I am time-and-again being asked questions, specifically about scrolling-list based pages for Android to complete within 1 hour of the Interview round. Typical work-environment, in a Sprint Planning / Grooming session, that task is at least 1 story-point with at least 6 hours of work including TDD if there is one, if not also manual testing with multiple User-Ids in multiple different lower-environments in order to ensure all possible edge-cases are scoped before handing over to QA. Senior Developers are excellent at rapid-prototyping appears to be the norm.
Rest all culture and team-fit issues, I will certainly work to be more pleasant, try to throw in some nice funny jokes as well.

For example daily scrum lo 3 mins you get to update your status but some sweet talking girl or team member update there status in very sweet way chesindi 1 hr work aeina vinasompu ga cheptaru malla ekkada repeat cheyyakunda..enka vinabuddi avuddi..

Either kill them with sweetness or go aggressive

Trust is key. your posts and defensive arguments here make it sound like you don't trust people easily. could be bad experiences in the past. But when you are like that, it comes across in your attitude and behavior. And that makes people uncomfortable. for full time roles, most smart managers hire for attitude not competence. if they only want tech skills, there are tons of consultants/freelancers. end of day, they want to hire someone they can have a beer with, go to a game or discuss random stuff without fearing blowback. You gotta exude that besides just tech competence.

I am going to be extremely blunt here - So Apologies in advance :-)
I do not know how much of your DB persona matches the real-life one but your posts make me think you need a serious attitude/outlook adjustment

People ( most of them ) have better things to do than spending their energies bringing you or other people down!
And people will reciprocate with how you treat/see them !

being pleasant, cheerful, approachable and positive is contagious -

you do not need bff kind of relationships with everyone but you need courteous ones and trustworthy ones..

You asked for reading suggestions - I have not read this book but have heard good reviews

I believe I have the inherent talent. I believe I can develop the necessary skills.
Ego, within control, is good. It is necessary even. Set a target, put the effort, improve. Everybody should do that. CTO, CEO kaadu kaani, some Manager, eventually some Director level lo retire avvaali. Life, living situations, living conditions, whatever is in our control, should improve ani effort pettaali.

I need to chill, and I need a mentor.

nammuthavo ledho kaani...read your threads earlier and was about to post these two things.

1) Your reasons to be an FTE are good...but first you need to chill...you seemed to be too worried about it now...nothing good comes out in such desperation...if you chill things will slow down and you will be in control of things.
2) Find a good mentor whom you can fully trust and follow their advice unconditionally.

I can be wrong but based on your interview posts...you come across as very argumentative...some amount of healthy arguments are good but people should feel like you are easy to work with and willing to collaborate.

Some of the most successful companies around may have flaws in their process but they are wildly successful...so they should be doing lots of things right...far easier and better to change yourselves and learn from what is working for them. Forget about how your class mates from 15 years back are doing now...your paths have diverged too far..too many factors like skills, locations, companies, situations etc have changed...only thing was your scores in an exam 15 years back were similar. Look at the most successful people around you in the last 2-3 years and try really hard to learn from their positive attributes and develop them..most of the times it boils down to...can do attitude, project management skills, how they communicate or resolve conflicts.

It's usually not the wow factor that makes the difference! For FTEs a lot of emphasis Is on culture fit, soft skills, team fit in addition to technical expertise! Contractors ki expertise chala, FTEs ki rqmts perugutayi ...Check how you are coming across.. willingness to learn and teach /mentor is always important...team player , helping the team succeed is more critical than individual brilliance ... restructure your responses keeping that in mind ... if you have team exercises , making your partners look good while getting the job done is also important ..

If you have GC , PM your resume to me - we are hiring in multiple locations - not sure if there are specific android openings but lots of JAVA ones..

First question catch cheyaali. question venuka vunna intention catch cheyaali. answers madhyalo hints and clues catch cheyaali.
interviews are spontaneity ani telusthondi.
There are hundreds of ways to design a solution to a problem, distributed systems, multi-threaded systems, OS based processes etc etc. I always fear that if I don't say the answer that the interviewer wants to hear, then the interviewer obviously will think I am unfit.
Guessing what is in the interviewer's mind, and then presenting ourselves according to the wishes of the interviewer, every round, every single person during the interview process...

FAKE EXPERIENCE !!!! PROXY INTERVIEW THO SELECT AYYAVA IPPATIVARAKU !!!

Consulting roles lo aa "wow" feeling kosam choodar vankul. Adequately good enough anukunte hire chesthaaru.
FTEs lo interview round nunchi bayataki poye prathi vaadu "wow" anukuni vellakapothey impossible. 5 rounds, 10 people, at least 1 says "meh", it's gone.
Macy's last year was a different story. They seemed very desperate to me, and so they made me an offer.

Also , have you asked the recruiters for feedback ? Some companies/recruiters will give you pointers to work on

Last 3 interviews lo feedback -
1. Gaps in Programming Skills and TDD. This was about the Boggle-board problem that I had shared previously on this DB.
2. Not as experienced as a Senior Android Dev. This was a task that is easily a 1 Story-point problem, at least 6 to 8 hours, min, if not more than 1 hour most certainly.
3. Good Dev, but not suitable for a Mobile-Team Manager (this is for a Manager role). Also, did not take any clues or pointers for the Programming problem. Now, I did not want to justify to recruiter that I had mentioned my reasons and concerns for doing what I was doing, because no point.
I am more than confident that I am a better developer than so many other developers they'd meet after me, so in comparison, I do have the "wow" factor, but only after so many "meh" factors with other candidates.

I think the core of the problem, solid gaa proper 30 to 45 days, 15 hours each spend chesi end-to-end deliverable ki coding chesi almost 1 year kaavosthondi. all this while, maintenance lo undipoyaa. i am lacking sleepless all-nighter practice.

What's your skill set ?

Java - 13 years including Android - 6 years. That includes 3 years in India, and 10 years as Consultant in the US. Last 6 years lo Industry domains - Finance (Trading App), and Media (Go Apps). Rate myself 9 on 10 in subject-skills. Contracting kosam F2F interview ki velthey I will kill them all.
E-Comm is hiring heavily everywhere, and string of rejections. yem antha difference vuntadi? Finance Apps are heavily data-centric, Media Apps are heavily Graphics-centric. E-Comm is combination of the best of both worlds type lo pump kottinaa work-out kaatamledu.
Current profile - Senior Android Developer Consultant. Server-side programming chesi more than 6 years avuthondi. DB ayithe marchipoyaa. Java tappinchi inkem programming skills raavu. Android Projects matuku, end-to-end, design, development, testing, building CI / CD, release management varaku mottam chesaa.. Agile telsu, work-breakdown, task-allocations, task-mentoring, code-reviews, TDD, full on Team Lead. As a Consultant, it is tough to justify that I can call myself a Lead and / or Manager. Programming very strong, but not so good that Goog and AMZN and FB will hire me.
Engg role interviews lo Product Owner questions aduguthunnaaru. What features do you think should be available in a Books-Library app? Why do you think so? How would you design it? Scalable websites. web chesinde ledu. I am literally hitting stones in the dark mostly.
What to expect deggare gap vachhesthondi. Programming Interview rounds lo large problems ki 1 hour lo answer cheppamantunnaaru. How many large problems to practice, and where, so I can solve any problem in less than 5 mins, because that's the "wow" factor.

Yet another FTE last week rejected.
Unless company is desperate, I am really finding it hard to reach the bar of expectations.
Totally clueless.
What is that bar of outstanding performance in the interviews?
How do I know what to improve so I can then see how to improve?
Good answers, correct answers, don't matter. Practically acceptance in FTE interviews is based on Feelings. Every single round, every person that we speak to, if they go back with a "meh" feeling, we are out. "wow" feeling teppinchataaniki yem cheyaali? elaa improve avvaali??
