Note this point your honour. Nadal was the last teen to win a GS. Him along with Delpo were extraordinary players to have done that. One thing is that they were super strong for their age and could continue their barrage of shots even into their 2nd week. Things were different since then. 1. A group of All time Greats rose simultaneously in form of Fedalovic and even Murray/Waw/Delpo to a lesser extent. They were so good that a couple of generations behind them didn't even hav a chance if they were decently fit. 2. Fitness of Older players has improved big time. Since the last 5 years.....the average age of Top 10 or even Top 50 has been the highest its ever been. Better diets, better fitness regimes than before have improved longevity considerably. Federer, Ferrer, Kohlschrieber, Tommy Haase and many others are in their Mid 30s and running even better than the young guns. Above factors have double handed lay shut the door on any upcoming teenager who simply was not ready to face fit greats either mentally or physically or even skill wise. Once Fedalovic retire,,,,,we shall again start seeing them now and then. | ||

if we look at history.. many greats started out as GS winners in their teens itself.. the last teen being Nadal and to an extent del Potro (was 20 when he won '09 US Open).. not sure what is going on with youngsters from then on .. the likes of Cilic, Dimitrov, Nishikori, Raonic, Gulbis etc. are all same generation that never came along.. have to see how this next generation of Zverev, Kyrgios, Thiem, Coric, Shapavalov does.. may be this is part of a trend of how the game is evolving.. youngsters finding it tough to breakthrough and many old/experienced guys still hanging in there tough unlike previous generations.. | ||
