Perhaps the bar for FTEs, Senior and Lead roles in NYC is a little higher. Base 150K antene Recruiter very first call loney Contracting lo money ekkuva vuntadi, FTEs lo money takkuva vuntadi ani bargaining start chesthunte, tappatamledu...
Dynamic Programming adigi adigi, yekkado compromise ye avuthaaru, but for the most part, somebody will be able to handle the problem better.
All problems cannot be solved on white-board within the given time. Brain-storming need not be complete either. But as much coverage identifying parts of the dynamism of the problem in itself could be the deal-maker.
Dynamic Programming problem naaku cheppagaane, deeni scale yendi, deeni time-lines yelaa vuntaayi real-world lo, real project lo sub-project effort, ikkada time entha vundi, ee 1 hour lo yem complete chesthaam.. important bits and aspects of the problem identify cheyalekapothey at least verbally solution koodaa complete avvadu.. dheenthalli.. ee thoughts toney aa round sanka naakipothondi. rest all is pretty straight-forward. algos and subject questions and system designs are a breeze. konni complex algos and dynamic programming ye practice cheyaali anukunta.

1) Implement a text search (Build an efficient data structure I had to use Trie data structure)
yeah you need a tree (probably a hashmap as well) to get results back in reasonable time. hacker rank had similar algorithm question.. any other structure used to timeout with their test inputs..
2) Detect and delete duplicate files on the file system (Dropbox interview question)
might need to calculate checksum ?
3) Game of life (Given a state calculate the next state and follow up question how would you scale it when the state is large and won't fit in RAM)
memory mapped files?
4) Design a stack that supports getMin() in O(1) time and O(1) extra space
keep track of min and check every time you push
5) Design a in memory key value database that supports snapshots
we do this.. there wont be any update to your in-memory cache.. any update is an insert with the next version..every insert has a timestamp which can be used to create snapshot..
6) Design a feature that shows estimated time of arrival when you open Uber app
lots of ways.. depends on what's the available inputs..
7) Design a train ticketing system with High availability and show the data model for your backend
general HA question..
8) Design Tiny URL system

}

nenu senior and/or lead android developer roles ki velthunna.
latest 2 interviews ayinayi.
1. Boggle-board problem with White Boarding. McDonald's lo kids menu teeskunte they give a paper that has a N X N square of alphabets. Left-to-right, right-to-left, Top-to-down, down-to-top, L shaped in any direction, top, down, left, right, covering any number of alphabets traverse chesthey, except diagonal traversal, if you can identify a dictionary word, any one word is sufficient, return the program with a boolean true, else traverse for all possible words and return with boolean false.
clearly, nobody can solve this in 1 hour on white-board. Graph data-structure, iterative or recursive graph traversal of alphabets to make words, abbo.. single method signature koodaa raayaledu nenu white-board meeda.
2. Grouped Lists in Android. NFL Teams and Players, display them as scrollable list, display preset min-count of players under each Team, until the full list of players in the Team is expanded by clicking on the 'View More' on the Team row.
Idi asalu spot lo cheppesevaadini, but I got stuck at the data-structure itself, Map of Team with List of Players, or List of Lists etc, and then complications with fetching the appropriate item etc. 2012 lo I had used different Android API classes, and I had done a similar sub-project. but macbook ichhi, IDE ichhi, sample app ki code-base readymade ichhi, make the necessary modifications ante, ayanni aalochisthune black-out ayyi 1 hr lo single method raasaa.. avathala easily 4 more methods raayaalsi vasthundi.

ilaanti real-world problems are as good as sub-projects and enhancements, oka 2 months release-cycle, 3 to 4 sprints of thorough dev and testing. avathala interviews lo 1 hour lo brain-storm cheyamantunnaru. point is, cheyaali, otherwise, not a senior dev. basic algos like anagrams, arithmetic progressions laantivi cheskuntu jr devs gaa migilipovaali.
more and more sub-projects of this magnitude practice cheyaali ante ekkada cheyochhu?

1) already built in modern RDBMS, or use REGEX
2) grep search and delete in unix?
5) same as 1
7) RDBMS

For every design problem there's an existing solution out there, interviewer is only looking at how would you build something from ground up

1) Implement a text search (Build an efficient data structure I had to use Trie data structure)
>> this question is about implementing APIs to search a text corpus and the interviewer extended this question to how would I implement the infra structure

Jambalahaart_raja:

complex enterprise scale problems in F2F

Raja, I have been attending interviews for the last 1 month or so and I have noticed interviewers are no longer asking simple tree traversal, linked list reversal questions

I spent a month practicing leet code medium and hard problems. Some of the programming questions I did

1) Implement a text search (Build an efficient data structure I had to use Trie data structure)
2) Detect and delete duplicate files on the file system (Dropbox interview question)
3) Game of life (Given a state calculate the next state and follow up question how would you scale it when the state is large and won't fit in RAM)
4) Design a stack that supports getMin() in O(1) time and O(1) extra space
5) Design a in memory key value database that supports snapshots
6) Design a feature that shows estimated time of arrival when you open Uber app
7) Design a train ticketing system with High availability and show the data model for your backend
8) Design Tiny URL system

complex systems emi undadvu...even interviewer know you cannot design netflix in 45 minutes...first of all they start with very simple problem and see your thought process

nee design lo pros/cons ela explain chesthunnavu, what would you do to mitigate them, design estimates

these are some of the things they are looking for

nobody is going for basic algorithms anymore. linked-list reversals and palindromes are all phone-screen weeder rounds questions now. everybody is asking large complex enterprise scale problems in F2F.
any interview round, nobody has time more than 10 mins. within 10 mins you have to come up with a basic solution for however large the problem is, and how many ever broken-down bits and aspects of that large problem are. cheseyochhu, but environment ki influence avvakundaa, rigid gaa vundakundaa cheyaali.

Anthaa baane vundi.
Anni baane vunnayi.
Subject lo knowledge amogham.
Simple Algorithm Coding problems koodaa twaragaane ayipothunnayi. basic linked-list reversals, tree traversals, binary search in array laantivi practice chesi chesi gurthu vuntunnayi. String reversals, palindrome, anagrams etc etc, abbo bochhedu.
System Designs maatram keka. End-to-end functionality mottam, all Use-cases brain-storming and architecting a project, fairly easy, with White-boarding.
Problem anthaa vachhesi long coding problems in White-boarding.
Basically problems elaa vuntunnayi ante, lunch lo colleagues toh kalisi discuss chesthey, within 2 to 5 mins chaalaa relaxing gaa chaalaa fast gaa solution vachhesthundi. basic idea, and rest all is building on top of it. tricks emaina vunte koodaa, lunch-hour lo antha avaleelagaa pani chesey chain-of-thoughts and expertise and skills, basic Interview-Hour lo, conference room lo, strangers mundara, mind mottam blank ayipothondi. for no reason, just over-thinking for any unidentified special use-cases etc, like TDD, and then, chain-of-thought is just going blank. cheyaleka kaadu, cheddam ante mind is just stuck. Not fear, not anxiety, not discomfort. Purely over-thinking. Lunch-hour lo antha rigid gaa leni over-thinking, Interview-Hour lo maatram thaandavam chesthondi. Problems are big, typically 4 to 5 different pain-points and solve to get the full solution for the problem. aa 4 to 5 different pain-points lo not able to proceed more than 1 aspect. Hints koodaa annitiki ivvaru kada, interviewer will only give hints about 1 or 2 such aspects, and rest-all we have to come-up with the solution ourselves.

any good resource to practice and overcome this over-thinking problem? interviews koodaa, as though if you don't black-out, then you are definitely a very good developer. proper gaa end-to-end oka sub-project or enhancement project coding chesi more than 2 years ayipothondi. bug-fixing toney kaalam gadichipothondi. Big Coding challenge problems elaa ekkada practice cheyochhu?
