Application details and documentation is same for both options. So, if you have a permanent address in India and do not like to spend as much, you can opt for delivery in India. I looked around my documentation.i am still not able to figure out how I picked that number. A part of me thinks, I chose the default DLC-C-35-1 and it got changed by department when I received application acknowledgement and copy of receipt I would recommend using default DLC-C-35-1 | ||

May be addhar card untee fast gaa ravachu, for me it took almost three months, applied in Feb and received in May. Again it's all depending on your luck, they won't respond thru emails or phone. You can verify status thru online. | ||

that was not in the acceptable list of documents. The most accessible ones were bank statement and utilities bill. Bank statement seemed the easy one | ||

that was the exact problem. They did not accept middle initial. I have to go bank and get the name changed . Then I submitted customer information document given by the bank with new name ( complete middle name). Did not accept that either . So I had wait until the statement was generated with new name and sent the statement . It was accepted and about 3 days later got the allotment email . | ||

and btw, I don't have aadhar card. It is supposed to be easier if you have aadhar card. May be the uploading of photos and documents is possible online , if you have aadhar.. Can't recall but in certain case it was possible... as a foreign citizen, that was not an option for me | ||

so you have to go online, fill an application ( there is a different one for Indian citizens and us citizens. I think Indian citizens could upload photos and document(vaguely remember reading this). This website has details https://www.tin-nsdl.com). You can pay online with credit card. -Print it out -Have a photo, copy of identity (passport or oci), copy of address proof(oci or bank statement or utility statement ) - i used OCI copy for both. Notary not required . - you will have an id number generated. PrInt in on top of the cover and send it to address in pune( given on website) - within 24 hrs of receipt , you will get an acknowledgement email. - within another 48 hrs, you will get an email indicating if documents are good or any issues. - in about 10 days, you get email with approval and electronic copy of PAN. Postal may take another 10 days. It will mailed to US address. You would have paid for shipping while making initial payment. It was a very easy experience. I was not even paying much attention . I dropped the first application while I was in India around june10. I used all US correspondence. I receive card in mail around august 10th This is top of my head. Took me about 60 days. Very prompt responses. I had to send documents multiple times. First time correct ayyunte .. 15-20 days lo ayyipoyedhi. It was mailed to my address in US. I directly went online , filled application and couriered it . Your name on passport and proof of address need to be accurate. I hade some middle name issue with my passport vs bank statement . I had to revise documentation multiple times. | ||
