we had the same concern. If a kid is exposed to Bilingual it takes close to 3 years to pick the language. My elder one had the same issue when we took him to Doctor, Doctor said to wait until he is 3 years if not then take to speech specialist. After 3 years I took him to speech specialist, I was shocked to see him speak and tell all the toys and colors in the room. Then Child psychologist gave the ear full for not being patient with him. With second kid, we focussed only one language and the second kid picked up words within 18 months. Now the second one is close to 3 and we are introducing the second language. Believe me, we taught second kid, English as the first language and but taught to call us Nanna and Amma, but calls us Dad and Mom when needed our urgent attention. we never taught or exposed Mom and Dad words to the second kid. So what I'm saying is............(NCB accent)...........you need to have patience and keep exposing words to him up to 500 words per day. Read books and show 15 mins cartoons, but focus on one language. | ||

manam edhi chesina we over do it on both sides. I say no to comparing every little thing to the extreme. But YES to comparison on a milestone basis. This will help with necessary intervention if needed. There is a reason why the kid has wellness visits and doctors check milestones. If the kid is lagging in certain area, we need to figure out how to give him the extra push to overcome that. No point in panicking. For ex, if the kid hasn't started walking (+/- 6 months of recommended age), we can focus on spending more time on that, giving massages to legs at home etc. If kid hasn't picked up language, we can try consciously reading more books to the kid, do you know kid needs to listen to >1000 words per hour to develop language on time. India lo jarigedhi adheee. So kid isnt getting that sort of stimulus then we need to take time to do that, not as a burden but eing aware he needs help in that direction. Ilaaa we can do in every. Also we shouldn't confuse regular development guideline comparison with what goes on with academic/sport comparison. | ||

Nookraju garu my daughter didn't speak proper sentence until she was 3, she had wax issues in her ear, we took her to speach therapies and all, finally one day did ear test and Doc cleared her wax and she started talking right after that... have some patience, he will just be fine, good luck | ||

no i am not ignoring the doctor, he is like a family doc for us, but the problem with him on that day is he didn't guided me properly. because of shots and other things my kid got stressed out the day we visited the doc ,and i know that when he is happy he will do like jumping and running, i was telling the doc about his situation but he is just ignorant, he didn't take it, and he didn't guided me properly... he is very good in play area with big slides and other stuff, plays with his brother, trying to write A, recognizing and making sounds of alpha bets i will continue what i am doing lets see.. | ||

naku same tesnion..24 months..walking delayed..started at 18 months not talking yet..last 6 months india..no daycare parents daggara...looks like he got more tv time..letters numbers cheptadu light ga..aa baby tv ani ade pettinatunnaru ..name calling responds when he is not busy.watching tv he doesnt.eye contact ok, social skills ok, laughs back..plays hide and seek..if he wants tv, brings remote..if he wants phone, gives phone to unlock..iste youtube avi opening and rhymes selecting..letters avi slot lo pettedi bagane chestadu...sme tension..brining back to usaa. annai i dont see any red flags. But, its better to be like a defensive driver. some suggestions, in general for any kid. try to kneel down when you talk, so he gets used to eye contact. tricycle start cheyandi. and park lo slides etc. age appropriate blocks will help with fine motor skills. | ||

again these generic questions are too confusing at the age of 18 he has limited eye contact, ee 3 months lo chala pick up ayyadu, eye contact improved a lot, plus following simple instructions like sit,eat ,wait kind of things, regress emi ledu skills lo, but again if i call his name he knows i am calling him, he make 2 rounds here and there vadiki mood unte vasthadu lekapothe ledu..few months back pushing and pulling unde if he needs something but now it is improve like water ki wa ani milk ki mi ani chepthadu break fast ki be kind of words he is using, he is feeding on his own now, he don't learn any thing by force, he picks on his own in a blink of a time most of the time, diaper ki cheppara ante daggariki vachi nunchatadu, he don't tell..few issues ayithe unnayi, but i don't want to brand those with some kind of deficiency.. | ||

what about eye contact, response to his name, does he ask for what he wants without pushing you towards it, playing with other kids etc ? county people check chese fine motor skills desi kids fail more due to lack of familiarity. evo beads shoe lace lo pettatam type vi lite, stuff like that you can buy from amazon and practice cheyinchochu. another important thing is you said he is progressing day by day. as long as that is there nothign to worry. make sure there is no regression of any skill that he acquired. to your actual question of why speech delays - don't know, and you won't find anything definitive. each kid is different and takes his/her own time to develop. | ||

Now, we yearn for a moment of peace when they are awake. Nonstop chatterboxes. leave him with your parents or in-laws for 6 months.... or make sure you have family around to play and converse etc if there are no other issues that you mentioned below spend more time with kid...mana busy life lo 7-9pm matladutannu ante jaragadu.... apart from following reasons any other reasons 1 . autism - no 2. hearing - perfect 3 ADHD/ADD - no age 20 months, he is picking up speech and other behavioral pretty good,but he has some delays, apart from above reason asalu enduku delays untayi , in general context i know some kids pickup little late but over all they will match with other kids around the age of 4years. meeku telisina reasons concerns amina unte cheppandi.. please boothulu thittakandi, athi chesthunna etc ani, it is just a concern as a parent. |
