Lingayats already have OBC status. What Congress is trying to do is declare them as a separate religion and give minority status to get Art 30 special privileges(One example of benefits is YS Jagan - Christian - can run a medical college without losing autonomy. A Hindu cannot.) | ||

who does not want special treatment from the state? If the state gives special treatment, I will also take it. Why are people thinking it is about just govt clerk jobs. Right now only local body elections have OBC reserved seats. It might be expanded to MLA/MP. Congress is sensing defeat in karnataka and doing all dirty stuff like Lingayat, Kannada and reservation in private businesses(It is already implemented in private education).
