incident happenned more than a year ago. like I said, I gave up when people started doing my job for me. i don't like that. you have a problem, i am the engineer, I am here to resolve it. not every problem in the world has the best solution. you will have to agree with me about the best workable solution that I will offer for this particular problem. any problem for that matter. anyhow, just checked the app from google play store, apparently the video changed. the launch video is not the one I worked with, so yes, my solution was finally accepted, but only after I quit from the team. SITUATION - Splash screen in Android App has brand-video with thick black borders on all 4 sides indicating it is not really full-screen. TASK - Remove the thick black borders and make the video really full-screen. ACTION - Suggested Replacing the brand-video with a better resolution video that will not cause thick black borders inside the already full-screen video-player frame. ACTUAL ACTION - UI/UX compared with iOS Devices which did not show thick black borders for the exact same video therefore, video is not faulty, Android is faulty, hence, non android-devs started to suggest techniques to android-dev to fix the issue. RESULT - Suggestion accepted, replaced with better resolution video to avoid the thick black borders inside the full-screen video-player frame. ACTUAL RESULT - Android Dev got pissed off and asked UI/UX and iOS Dev to go frock themselves!!! STAR technique koodaa broken ye ee lekkanna. Jai Fakism. "Chill Bro. Gee top-tech tier-1 companies anni Leadership skills are very important for us ani okate gola chesthayi. Have you had disagreements, misunderstandings with fellow team-members, business partners, clients, UI/UX, Product Owners, Scrum Master etc? How did you resolve it? The very first screen when the app is launched is a 5 second brand video of the TV Channel. The video asset file is available as mp4, bundled with the app itself. The Problem, when the video is playing, there are thick black borders on all 4 sides, indicating that the video is not necessarily full-screen. The video is faulty, and no one agrees, because none of Apple Devices have the same problem with the exact same mp4 file, no thick black border on all sides on Apple Devices. So video is not faulty, therefore Android is faulty. I was instructed to investigate and evaluate possible alternate solutions as a Developer. No solutions for Android. What else to do, if thick border is appearing, what else can be changed in the video-player display frame that is already only 1 pixel thick on all four sides. Now comes the interesting part, iOS Dev and UI/UX are starting to step onto my work, suggesting what API components to use, what properties and attributes should be set to the video-player frame in order to avoid the thick black borders. As though, I haven't explored any of those, just that, they are not android developers, so not necessary they'd even understand. At this moment, I stopped working on that piece, and humbly advised them to fix it themselves. Here's the git project location, feel free to mess with it.
