Probably the best season premier amongst all other GOT seasons. Fast paced tho anni plots unravel chesad. Dialogs and music super. Surprised to see our DB didnt throw up a thread on this yet....So my 2 cents: 12 months of an impossible wait finally gives way to relief, excitement, wonder and frustration...exclusively in that order. One of the greatest ever stories told in any format unravels its mysteries like an Chess Grandmaster.....Even early book readers like me now hav no damn clue what would be the next move except wild guesses.... Starts with Arya Stark's unfinished business and is easily the best Opening Sequence for a GOT Season Opener. Take that Freys....Murderers of a Pregnant Woman! Cersie introspects her situation, flirts with danger and Euron Greyjoy who promises to return with a 'Priceless Gift' to win her. Jamie isnt too glad about the proceedings and is amused by his sister's quest to move on. We are allowed to have a look at Winterfell, where Jon Snow is seen getting more comfortable in his role as King of the North and rallying his Northern Lords to the more essential confrontation against the Night King. There is tension between him and Sansa ofcourse where they disagree on the definition of 'Benevolence' from a ruler. There's jst a simmer....not yet a cold war. Love the way Sansa puts Littlefinger in his place and reminds Jon to learn from the 'Stupid Mistakes' made by the earlier Stark rulers. There is regret, introspection and realization for the Hound with the Brothers with Banners. There is then a funny and equally gross scene with Sam at the Citadel where all his education seem to be more about cleaning the toilet pans and serving food in not too dissimilar pans. He is frustrated of course and is eager to send some important information he discovers to Jon. We end with a sweeping canvas and royal BGM signalling entry of Danaerys Targeryian onto the land she believes is rightfully hers. There is a dialouge-less, wonderful tour of Dragonstone which looks to be one of the most beautiful Castles in Westeroes. Dany reaches a Table Top Map and signals the begin of her conquest. She is ready. Final Words: There was a lot of showcasing as to where our major players were and everyone seems focussed and preparing only for one thing - WAR. The excitement and frustration to watch the next episode of GOT was never more cruel. The show has placed its prime players well in positions favourable to them with enemity and uneasy alliances being the focal point. Let the Game Begin! RATING - 8/10. P.S: - Loved Lyanna Mormont and her fierceness which makes Northern Lords seem like pu$$ies. - That 'eyebrow' look of Tormund to Brienne is as hilarious as ever...Give them a happy ending for God's sake! - The Night King now has Giant effing Whitewalkers!!! } |
