Another interesting stats... Back in 1995, Srikakulam is just ahead of Anantapur in fisheries..almost bottom... Now it is ahead of 6 other districts .. state level policies holds good for all... Why only few districts getting success... Is it local administration doing good job? Or politicians in creating awareness? Trying to understand this success in few pockets... | ||

Q.no 136 answered on 3rd may 2016 in parliament has state wise production details for the last 3 years... AP production increased to 23.3 lakh tonnes in 2016 from 18.7 prev year which is 24% growth... As per latest CII report it increased further to 27.6 lakh in 2017 which is 18% growth.. impressive growth rates for successive years.. majority of India growth in fisheries is coming from AP.. India is producing 107 lakh tonnes of fish and prawns, 10% is getting exported... Govt shd focus more on exports for better foreign exchange reserves and income to fishermen | ||

Back in 1995, Prakash and Nellore top the list with 77000 & 62000 tonnes production. WG & KD are 50% & 30% respectively with those districts.. now WG & KD producing 6 lakh tonnes each.. Nellore and Prakasam together are not even 50% of that number. Great success story by these 2 districts... It's good know how they turned their economy? 70% shrimp production in India is from AP. Good sector to focus for employment and gsdp growth... AP has a vision to touch 80,000 cr business by 2019-20.. it would be good if Telangana also focus on this sector in Khammam St considering geographical advantage for this sector | ||

It seems AP touched 27 lakh tonnes of production last year.. last year total business was around 40,000 cr and employed 14 lakh people... Hyderabad IT exports were 70,000 crores and employs 4 lakh ppl | ||

Registration certificates were issued for fresh water acquaculture in the last 1 one year by AP... Not sure how many of u went thru AP fisheries policy 2015... Targeting for 42 lakh metric tonnes of production by 2019-20.. it was 17.5 lakh tonnes by March 2014.. |
