No sir you just need to apply for conversion, broke June 30th to get it processed for FREE. After that they may charge. You can visit India freely with PIO, while coming back they don't care your PIO. Once back you apply If you have time before going just apply for receipt purpose, it will not ask for any originals in first 2 months | ||

I went to cox and kings couple of weeks ago Houston downtown lo. Lady said you can travel until jun 30 with pio but past that you have to show the receipt that applied for the conversion to OCI | ||

No one stops with existing PIO card in India It is better to change it once you are back from Travel There was no statement that existing PIO is invalid Govt said they are stopping PIO program, means for new applicants Existing guys can change to OCI I have 1 more moth to travel India with kids. thier conversion is in final stages with Embasy in process. waiting for further updates | ||

she said if you are NOT stopped at airport in India to get into Desam you are lucky (even if you have valid for life stamp). But if you are STOPPED don't blame us. on the other hand, if you apply for OCI in lieu of PIO it is free it seems. Thammi.. that is known fact.. I am talking beyond that. Down the line, there is a possibility that the Indian Govt may make it a must to get the updated OCIs for all. Main reasons is the smart version of the cards(for example, our current PIOs are hand-written. I guess, I will proceed to move to the OCIs . | ||
