Long story: http://bangaloremirror.indiatimes.com/bangalore/others/insid e-the-lair-of-bomb-naga/articleshow/58185979.cms? Raids at former rowdy-sheeter V Nagaraj's fortress of an offi ce reveal stash of demonetised notes, lethal weapons It was from inside the trust office that police on Friday recovered demonetised notes worth up to Rs 14.80 crore. At 4.30 am on the day, the police team of 15 officers swooped down on the office and residence of Nagaraj and started knocking on a locked door. Little did they know that this lock and door was just a facade for an intricate structure consisting of several other doors, gates and complicated locking mechanisms to protect or keep outsiders away from what is inside. Policemen took three hours to prise open the grill and break locks to enter the third floor of the office. Bundles and bundles of the notes were found hidden away under the wooden floor. Some tied up in cloth bundles, some within hollow bricks and some under various religious books, including the Bhagavadam. The ground floor of the office is a parking lot and part of it rented out to others. The first, second and third are Nagaraj's offices. On the third floor are a home theatre and other recreational things that helped Nagaraj relax after his ardous deals. They tried to enter the building from the terrace. By 8.30-9am they sought the help of a duplicate key maker. After 40 minutes, the key maker managed to open the lock to the terrace door. Each of the floors is covered by grilled gates, and so the police had to spend hours to gain entry into even one floor. The house, the police meanwhile discovered, was occupied. After breaking open the lock to a door on the ground floor, police found it was locked from inside too. The grilled window near the door was cleared and a boy from the neighbourhood was chosen - for the leanness of his body -- to get in and open the door from inside. Once inside, each floor of the house had separate grilled gates. After this hurdle was cleared, police ran into the ultimate hurdle. The wife and daughter of Nagaraj, who refused to let the team in. Lakshmi first feigned illness and then downright refused entry to the policemen. In the meantime, police saw that the terrace door of the house was lying open. |
