We should not belittle other cultures but should highlight our achievements thousands of years ago and at the same time explain the progress made in western culture. Its a cultural gap IMO. Generally kids here grow up in a very independent atmosphere. They are taught to question everything and debate it. The environment we grew up , we are conditioned right from childhood not to question anything the elders tell and just follow it. We try the same thing here and treat that as rebellion if they kids do not really understand that concept. India lo kids lo curiosity ni, questioning ability ni total ga close chesestamu manamu early stage lo. It all depends on parents and how they bring up the kids and explain to them the reason behind what we say and do. All kids are not alike so while some kids may understand what we say others may not. So depending on the personality of the kids ( we treat that as balupu if they dont listen to us or debate about something with us) parenting style needs to change. Kids should be given the freedom to express their feelings but at the same time they need to be able to appreciate our views as well. Indian kids born here in the US or in the West go through a lot from their peers which we are not aware of. Most of this does not flow back to us because we do not encourage that open talk as we are always restricting their expression. Why lot of the teenagers here (desi kids) behave like item peshas? Teenagers in India behave well (at least with the parents and dear ones).
