if you are in the US and you are living on one side and renting on the Other you can do a conventional loan with 5% down. even if you are on H1b. go to local banks or credit unions or mortgate brokers to get better deal rather than going to wells fargo or bofa etc. one of my frnds on h1b bought sfr recently went to bofa since its their primary bank for the last 10 years. loan officer said since you are on h1 pay 25% down. pakka veedhi lo oka mortgage broker unnadu vadi daggariki velthe he was able to get him conventional loan with 5% down. but it is a different story if you are not living in any one of the unites. you have to pay 20-30% down depending on the bank. | ||

What is the minimum required down payment for a duplex. Online it says 20% is enough, but all the loan officers say 25%. Can someone throw some light on this please. |
