generally companies offer either Options or Restricted Stock Units...if the company is growing and their stock price is reaching new highs every day this is when companies give options (since it is cheaper for the company) RSU's are generally given by more stable companies like AAPL, GOOG, FB... I am not sure why Walmart stopped giving stocks but they might compensate it different form (yearly bonus must be ridiculous) otherwise I don't see why anyone would this company when other companies (atleast in Bay Area) are luring them with stocks | ||

inko example I interviewed and got an offer at Pure Storage 3 months before their IPO they offered me 10k options at 12$ strike price ( adhi join ayyi untey...ippudu stock antha underwater undedhi...todays PSTG is 10$) btw inko success story, naa roommate Arista Networks 5 years before IPO join ayyadu...20k options at 5$ strike price, guess how much he is worth now  | ||

not everyone, if you join 1-2 years before the company goes IPO, you can easily make 200k-300k right after the IPO my friends and ex-colleagues who moved to EMC 3-4 months before the merger(got few thousand RSUs worth ~100k), got their stocks vested 100% the day merger was complete...so they all left within few months and joined another company Apple lo naa close friend work chesthadu...he got 250K worth RSUs when he joined so baganey cheyyochu money...you need to be patient though | ||
