Bhuvaneswariâsâefforts transform herâadopted village in Krishna dist: Komaravolu, a small remote village in Krishna district with nearly 2,300 population and 550 houses, has become an ideal village where the residents have been voluntarily implementing total ban of consuming liquor, smoking and chewing tobacco in public places. Thanks to the initiation of Nara Bhuvaneswari, wife of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who adopted the village which was the native place of her mother Nandamuri Basava Tarakam in October 2015. Komaravolu of Pamarru mandal located about 50 km from Vijayawada, which was once notorious for group rivalries between two political parties, is now become a peace-loving village. The villagers irrespective of party affiliations now joined hands to make their village an example in the entire state. Bhuvaneswari, who frequently visits the village, used to stay in her motherâs ancestral home. âEven before adopting our village she used to visit her motherâs home every year and spend a few days. She is fond of the place and she used to interact with the villagers and family friends without any inhibitions. She has taken initiative to reconstruct the ancient Shiva temple in the village. As a lover of cattle, which is reflected through the company which she owns (Heritage Foods), we are breeding an Ongole bull after her advice,â said Moturi Lakshmi, childhood friend of Bhuvaneswari. âAfter adopting our village, Bhuvaneswari has asked us to shun group politics and concentrate on development. Our village, which did not witness any development for the last several years, has converted itself as a model village during the short span of one-and-a-half years. Bhuvaneswari has distributed 250 LED bulbs and 300 tree guards for the village from NTR Trust. With her initiation, the government has sanctioned 206 individual toilets. Within two months all the toilets have been constructed and the village was declared as Open Defecation Free. The government has sanctioned 150 new electric poles replacing old poles and Indian Oil Corporation has declared our village as No Smoke Village as every house is having LPG connection under Deepam scheme,â said P Krishna Kumari, Sarpanch of Komaravolu. The village has also achieved unique recognition following its âbanâ on consuming of liquor, smoking and chewing of tobacco products in public places. âThe gram panchayat is implementing the ban with the co-operation of villagers successfully. Even for outside farm labourers we educate them about the discipline to be followed in our village. Thereâs no place for villagers who consume liquor. We counsel the violators of the rule,â said P Sasi, member of ZPTC. With the initiation of Bhuvaneswari, the government has sanctioned 11/33 kv electric substation in Komaravolu, which will be useful for establishing industries in the area, said Potluri Krishna Babu, TDP district spokesperson. âKomaravolu gram panchayat with five hamlets is having sufficient drinking water as there are three big water tanks and five mini water tanks. We have two anganwadi centres and two more buildings are going to be inaugurated in next month by Bhuvaneswari. Very soon the entire panchayat will be developed with underground drainage system.There is a proposal to develop the present PHC sub-centre to full-fledge health centre |
