as far as I know US lo .. govt side nundi restriction is FMLA based .. that they cant fire/replace her if once goes on maternity claiming FMLA benefit .. it doesn't restrict/ask company to pay for that period .. ofcourse many big companies pay for some/full duration




US lo state disability insurance ani untadi. California lo That will pay for 4 weeks before due date and 6 weeks after due date (8 weeks in case of C section). FMLA kinda inkoka 6 weeks paid, 6 week unpaid job protected leave untadi. This FMLA thing is for both the parents. Of course they pay only around 2/3 of the pay which is tax exempt. Also there is a max limit for that. Inka chala conditions in calculating the total pay unnayi. It is based on some max quarterly pay that you get between 5 to 17 months prior to the delivery date...

california lo state govt disability insurance will take care of the payments. everymonth employee pays 0.7% and employer pay 0.45% towards this. Ilantivi pedithe it will be more secure and more fair towards women...

How will it affect? Im not saying there will be an affect - but what is the net affect? In most cases it will make the product/outcome costlier - which may be passed along to consumers. As this is something that affects all organizations, the outcome wont be as impactful.


lets take the example of packaging or bottling industries where the minimum wage will be in the range of 15k.... jute bags packaging industry which employs less than 20 people which are mostly women will have to bear the losses of temporary wages and have to be competitive in pricing because of the market...

lets take the example of carry n forward and a distribution industry where women are employed, as this is a service sector they dont have the freedom to decide the pricing, they are only given the commission.

thw downside is also that we may see a quota system coming in, for women at workplace. to offset the potential discrimination issues. hope they stay out of that.

Depends on the industry - while it is a financial impact , it's not like a major %age of women is on maternity leave at any given time..

Also most women decide to quit the work force at that time when they are expected to go back to work too early - giving them a little more time will help retain them and all the knowledge and training! For manual low skill jobs the women will take the employment hit ..

Really good move ! It is awesome for the new mom's to have the right to take the time off to take care of the baby for more than the 12 weeks given today.. just puts the woman and baby in a better state of health , especially with regards to post partum depression and nursing ! Kudos to Modi govt for making it happen...

On the flip side this will be one more thing used against hiring women in that age profile - my first hiring mgr asked me why should I hire a girl , they get married and leave ! It will take a few years to normalize again !

research has shown strong correlation between maternity leave and infant mortality rate. every extra month of leave, IMR goes down by 13% - especially in developing countries. europe lo aithey almost one year istharu.

economy ki koncham bokkey but if this attracts more women into workforce, that may get balanced. good move. aa maneka gandhi final ga okka pananna jesindhi. useless candidate.

im not disputing that unkle..... kani with indutries ike packaging where there will be more women will be affected.... i believe 3-4 months paid is enough.....

im not being a bigot by saying i dont know the pain they go through but i saw my sister work till her 9th month and resign after she gave birth.....
