I contributed money into traditional IRA in Feb 2017 for the tax year 2016.I didn't file any taxes. within couple of days, i called fidelity and asked them the entire contribution i did for the year 2016 in traditional IRA need to be transferred as Roth IRA. they asked me to open the Roth IRA account and then transferred the amount to Roth IRA. During this conversion, I got some profit and it got deposited in Roth IRA..so, Fidelity agent asked me to report the profit in form 8606. When i went to HR block, the lady is saying i should have 1099-R so that she can enter the information for filling 2016 taxes.. When i called fidelity before, they told that they will give 1099-R in Jan 2018. So, this tax consultant is saying since they are giving 1099-R in Jan 2018..the Roth IRA might be for 2017. Any idea?..i will call fidelity again..but, wondering if any one can give suggestion on what to ask or any direction. Chiru,Veturi,SPB,Ilayaraja,Jandhyala,Vamsi,K Viswanath,Sachin |
