A reputation built over 2 decades. A lifetime of honour and dignity dragged through the mud because someone chose to be disgruntled and take off the hate and her imbalance on social media. She sandwiched one humungous lie between her rants. People kept telling me to be careful of the hate and jealousy as I grew in my career. But All I knew is to sing. And work hard. I wouldnt stop to hear or share gossip. If I wanted to rant or be upset about stuff I felt bad about I did it at home. To family. Earlier it was mom. Now it is my husband. Even the Twitter Harassment issue - people in the industry told me was because the trolls were paid for by 'competitors'. It seemed like an absurd theory. But maybe they were right. I have had a life of NO adjustments - because it was and is NOT needed. The thing is, today, or anyday, this lie by Suchitra (or her hacker 🙄) holds no water in the industry because my slate is squeaky clean. And I am darn proud of it. However she cast an aspersion and those outside the industry doubt it. As far as the people I have worked with in 15 years are concerned they know me. And they know Suchitra. And others. I realize one thing though - this society of these darned 4 people cares a damn and will believe any lie. I also got these paradoxical advice - "Be silent if you have done no wrong" and "Speak out if you have done no wrong". "If you have done nothing wrong you dont need to go to the cops (or you are afraid and are trying to silence her 'truth')" "Go to the police if you have done nothing wrong". Thanks for the advice, people. Thanks. There is one lesson you can learn from me - If you lead a life of dignity and character and moral values, all it takes is one random messy person to lie about you. And everyone will gossip. I always had faith. But I no longer do. I dont have any faith. In God. In anyone. In anything. I dont have faith in honesty. In goodness. In the saying that Good things happen to good people. Because thats a lie too. I have been called a •••• and asked my rate a million times in 4 days - because a colleague perhaps didnt like me enough. Thats all it takes. Thats all. One lie. Just. One. |
