On the way to Chichun Itza, there was an underground lake , where we took a swim. It was a good experience. Don't miss it.

From Cancun to chichen itza, you can go by car or travel buses kuda vuntayi

Driving is Ok, Cars are not good(only my personal exp) in hertz etc

if you want to travel out of cancun, carry lot of cash, US dollars kuda tesukuntaru, no need to convert to pesos

I frontload travel in the vacation, but it's a personal choice. For me, the risk of missing the flight back because I was stuck in traffic somewhere is just too much...

Driving a car in mexico is fine, but american insurance will not work, you will need to get the one offered in mexico. Carry some cash. There are plenty of stories where cops stop tourists and ask for permits etc, just to get 50-100$ in cash

Booked the flight and will be there from April 8th through April 16th (return flight is early morning 16th). For 4 or 5 nights I want to stay in all inclusive and for about two days want to travel some parts of Mexico like Merida. I want to know if I want to do the travel in the beginning of the trip or save it to the end? Anyone experienced, please suggest an itinerary as I have to book the hotels in the next couple of days. Is renting a car OK to drive from Cancun to Merida (or any other sightseeing places)? What sightseeing should be made as part of the trip?

Thanks in advance.
