The original home of the Satavahanas was somewhere in the Deccan, and most likely they belonged to the Andhra territory. Because, the Puranas described them as the Andhras. In other words, though the Dynasty became famous as the Satavahana, they were the inhabitants of Andhra. The Andhras were no doubt one of the most famous races of ancient India. Apart from what the Puranas described of them, one finds the name âAndhraâ in the âIndicaâof the Greek Ambassador Megasthenes who lived in the Court of Chandragupta Maurya. The Asokan Inscriptions also contain the name âAndhraâ. Most probably, the Satavahanas were a branch of the Andhra race. That is why the first King of the Satavahana Dynasty, Simuka, was described in the Puranas as a man of the Andhra Race. | ||

To commemorate his victory, Gautamiputra performed two Aswamedha yagnas, took the title of Trisamudrapitatoyavahana (one whose horses had drunk waters from 3 oceans). Not a big fan of elaborate minting, he instructed the coins of Nahapana be restruck with the Satavahana royal symbols at Jogulathambi. He ordered the earlier Vikrama calendar to be abandoned. He built a second capital at Dharanikota, near the present day Amaravati in Guntur district of AP, in addition to the traditional Pratishtana in the Maharashtra region. Although he gave himself the title of âEkaBrahmanaâ and proclaimed the superiority of the caste system, the Satavahana empire has sterling examples of the promotion of minority faiths and languages. Buddhist art, learning and monasteries were promoted. The caves at Karle and the Buddhist stupas at Kanheri and Amaravati were built during this period, with generous donations from the Satavahana rulers. Done with it. Watched both K150 and GPSK.. this post is nothing but my rant on both the movies..not reviews IMO both movies could have been better. they didn't strike the emotional chord completely. First about K150..the movie has the following adv and disadvantages Adv 1. Chiru comeback 2. Hit music Disadvantages 1. A black tag of "routine commercial remake"..that is very hard to sell in this generation among 20-30 age group in india and any typical NRI in USA(who tries to be different) Chiru had a huge task of overcoming this big disadvantage and make the movie a hit and he successfully carried the movie on his shoulder. If at all the movie worked, its only because of chiru..run of the mill story..watching much hyped coin fight, i felt "wtf is special about this fight". Age/potta showed up in his dances,but his grace still intact and that made those songs watchable multiple times. Action wise, he reiterated that he can still emote with the same intensity of his old rudraveena days and convince people after his political debacle...its much easy for chiru to preach before PRP and convince people than now..but still he managed(proof : no one laughed in his emotional scenes).. weak climax, sodi villian.sodi bemmi episodes...but what saved the movie and made it enjoyable(at least once) is just 5 letters CHIRU. Web ratings were perfect..3-3.25/5 2.About GPSK Adv: 1. Genre( ppl are still in Bahubali hangover to watch such genres) 2. Bala's forte 3. Directors 'class' history Disadv bad music A typical neutral NRI would always prefer to watch a different movie/attempt than a routine commercial flick. this movie had that tremendous advantage. it would make neutral people go to his movie first and k150 next. IMO Compared to the K150, this movie had less emotional connect to the wars. k150 lo atleast pre interval episode lo konchem emotional connect undi..ikkada adi completely missing.. i wonder what krish narrated to bala as a story...hero intro starts with a war with king1, couple of family scenes..a big war with king 2..interval..yagam.....female dancer ••• villian entry and war with king 3 and done. wartime tagginchi konchem drama pettalsindi movie lo..The war before interval was the best of all the wars as it had some drama(satakarnis son held up, unable to break the walls etc). last war lo em strategy lekunda etu padite atu attack cheyyali ani ade oka strategy ga promote cheyyataniki try chesadu krish..didnt work out that much.. i always felt, this king didn't have that much history or it was at least not documented to make a historic movie. Krish should have chosen any other king which had some drama in his life. Atleast Stakarni puttuka nunchi start cheyyalsindi and his strong reason to unite all kingdoms..rather than showing a time frame of his life. telugu pride ani 4-5 dialogues pettina there was no soul in that. krish is to be blamed here. i dont see a reason this movie should be completed in 90 days. was he trying to meet the sankranthi deadline? there is a reason RM took 2 yrs for BB. and the result is obvious. coming to performances bala did his part good and again this movie worked because of him and its genre.. costumes could have been better for him..sets appeared more natural and believable. any emotional connect to the wars could have made it another BB...death bed meeda nunchi lechi war ki vellinappudu kooda emotinal impact ledu.. a missed oppurtunity by krish..but this product in 90 days is commendable..again ratings were perfect. 3-3.25/5. attempt laudable..execution not so great.
