Let us put it this way in simple terms Total Currency Issued by RBI = $255 billions $55 billion is not coming back :-) RBI is saying - Bring those $255 billion to me those old notes and i will give you new Notes in exchange. If you do not come to me by dec 31 2016, I owe you nothing and you will be left with notes worth toilet paper ....LOL You will see the numbers and results after dec 31. Let us wait and watch. | ||

Currently Rs 17,54,000 crore worth of notes are in circulation according to the RBI’s database on the Indian economy. Of this Rs 500 notes constituted almost 45% of the currency in circulation while 39% of the notes were of the Rs 1,000 denomination. In value terms. However in terms of volume, Rs 10 and Rs 100 notes constituted 53% of the notes in circulation. This measure would mean that from midnight, almost Rs 6,32,600 crore in circulation in the form of Rs 1,000 notes would be illegal tender. To replace them, Rs 2,000 notes would be introduced, which according to the government would be limited in circulation. | ||

I think 2000 will be limited release..may be 20% of what money is being exchanged. They have some estimation about white money in 500s & 1000s so they know how much to release in 2000s and 500s. Even if they release 100% of legal money exhanged back to market in 2000s and 500s whts is the problem. | ||

If you notice the series of actions being taken by MODI....they are all interlinked...from jandhan to LPG subsidy to aadharinterlinking to banning currency...it is not over yet... Immediate effect will be counterfeit currency will be out. As per govt data there is significant amount of black money as Cash which is used widely during election season,real esate etc and is running like parallel economy. Whoever has bank account and so far not linked to PAN or transfer money to another account the receipients PAN is now linked after this exercise. Second result would be if no 100% most of the black money either will be junked or comeout and will be taxed/penalised. There might be few ways for getting over this penality by having poor people deposit smaller amounts on their behalf and later converting it...but that is not going to work for bigger players.. Every withdrawal/deposit transactions are now tracked. Game is not just over yet just began and these are warmup sessions...you can consider this as GPS at the nano level (not literally nano chip :-) ) Wait and watch...ultimately my feeling is benefits will be passed to tax payers which will be next step in this exercise. Till then go on... |
