Are you talking about India or US? This got to be a joke if this is in US. In US, many companies allow employees to take Family Medical Leave. My wife took 3 months paid leave + 6 months family medical leave when we had our daughter. Actually, She was ready to resign as we were contemplating move back to desam at that time. Her employer encouraged her to go on FMLA instead of leaving. I am speaking purely from our experience, she was never discouraged or reprimanded for taking extended leave. I assume that would be the case in 99.99% of US companies.
This is a very significant percent in US, lots of couples/women choose not to have kids in this country.
too many things mixed. people need to know their priorities. if having family is your priority, you need to understand few things have to be let go for that sake. if career is your priority, let their partners know that well ahead and set expectations properly. inka family obligations, mogudu family name munduku teesukellaali...cannot even argue on these. | ||

there are many cases where a performing women was given bad rating just because she took 3 month maternity leave. pregnant Women had to sacrifice promotions as they were told that anyway you will be off by 3 months so no point in giving promotion. its family choice in many cases not just personal choice. Women did not chose the ability to get pregnant it was bestowed upon them by nature.

I heard a counter argument for this from a lady colleague of mine to our ceo..."Why do they need to be paid for their personal choice? Isn't it unfair to the women who are not choosing to have kids? There are plenty of women who choose not to have kids and work all year..". It definitely made me pause and think from that angle. | ||
