recap of immigration issue: Personally, my opinion is Immigration law is and should be sole right of the existing citizens. And immigrants have no right to ask to be made a citizen. So, i stayed away from donating to the cause of, say immigration voice or any other org. But as i read through the issue, and living throught his process, i started to understand that there is more to this than the simple opinion. There is more cheating that is happening that i originally understood. So, back to i140 rule. What happened? Companies bring more and more people on H1b. Make them stay for 6 years. But the no. of GC visas are just few thousand. So, h1bs get stuck in the process for very very very long time. As of now its manageable. But slowly it will not. So, immi org and some reps lobbied for EAD for i140 after 6 months. (petitions dont work, you need to make calls to senators). WH heard that we are making efforts to lobby for this rule and both parties are agreeing. So, companies thought the support for this rule is getting bigger by the day. So they needed to do something. <imagine>. IV gets a call from WH... they promised they will do everything we wanted. They took the list of asks from IV... the same list that senators, reps started to support. Then they passed a very very very vague Executive action. Initially normals guys like me were worried that its different than what we were asking. IV got worried.. they talked and released some posts that WH guaranteed that rule is going to come. (we dont know if that is truth or false). Then the rule gets published... guess what... they watered down the entire rule by "extreme hardship" condition. Now senators and reps will say "you got what you wanted, why do you need our support" because 99% of that rule is what we asked... but that 1% makes the entire difference. IV got into damage control mode.. did some research... found that a lawyer who was representing consulting companies who were lobbying for more h1bs.... joined the fed govt... and worked specifically on this rule. Now you combine 1+1 and tell me if that is 2 or not. When Hillar says.. i am getting support from Indians... these consulting companies donate money to her? why because they want to make slaves out of you... not to compare with actual slavery.... but then you are not a free man either. All support we gathered from senators and house reps went into drain. When we have support for a ask from both parties , it is time to get it done. If this rule comes in to place then no l-140 revocation authority to employer which is always good One more thing they need to confirm is whether new perm is needed if u switch your employer Definitely beneficial rule atleast a saving grace in present trend | ||
