Briandrain Main advantage with RTP and surrounding 10 mile radius is 35-50K IT and PHARMA Jobs, 20-25 Indian Restaurants and Groceries, Indian Movie theaters, 3 Indian Temples, At least 25-30 Medium to Upscale Indian dominated Communities, SUPER spacious shopping complexes (NJ very difficult to find due to space constraint) etc. More importantly most of the space developed in last 2-10 years so LOOKS NEW! ONLY -Ve some roads widening and due to narrow roads some traffic issues! By the way...I am not even talking about Universities as you may not want to know for now! | ||

Friends, There was so much happening with me over the last 3 months; wanted to get few tips and hence this thread. As it is my threads have very less readership due to dry & bland content, so I am clubbing two topics into one thread My India Trip : We went to India for the first time in 4 years after coming to New Jersey. Like a tradition in this DB, I am sharing my experiences : 1. Metro - For 5 weeks in Hyd, I have not seen Metro working happening. Looks like the work is halted for some reason. The whole metro has made Hyd a very clumsy and dirty place. The traffic congestion has become a nightmare. 2. OLA Cabs - Biggest revolution in daily commutation is OLA cabs. It is a big hit and autos are literally on the verge of extinct. Spoke to 4-5 cab drivers, they are earning 1 Lakh per month out of which 60K goes to OLA, Petrol & maintenance. 40K is still their income because of which lot of youngsters from near by districts are flocking Hyd with A/c cars. My driver at home too quit and started as OLA cab driver. 3. Money - The value of INR has gone to dogs. There is nothing you can get in 2 digits. A minimum of 100 rupees is so common for any essential commodity. Watched only one movie (Pelli Choopulu) at Cinemax. Ticket price is 150 and popcorn is 180...People are giving a damn to this..cars, malls, movies, shopping everything is business as usual. For me it is shocker to see the value going down. All in all I came to NJ with a very mixed and confused feeling. Where do I need to belong in future..Should I settle down in USA (subject to GC) or go back to India. Neither I feel at home in US nor comfortable in my home town Hyd (with traffic, water, parking and other petty problems, exorbitant real estate). The moment I landed in NJ, my Vice President gave me a shocker, that the project is going to get wrapped by Dec 2016 and there is nothing in pipeline for next year. So, I immediately reached out to my network within the company and got a 2 year project at RTP (research triangle park) area in Raleigh, NC. Need to shift my family by this month end. So, please advice : 1. Good school district (my kid goes to elemantary). 2. Good Zip codes for residential 3. Family physicians / Pediatrics. 4. Do we get Hindi/Telugu movies around the RTP area (although I watch only 2-3 movies in a year, just curious 5. Cost of Living I always felt NJ as home away from home, but now the time has come to move of NJ and explore North Carolina. Hoping to meet the DB members here if we have any meets like NJ Thanks ! |
