why do u need these investment guiding one's even if they charge 0.15%..

simpe reason is to trust experts with better investment model. 0.15% may be ok. It is kinda optimism that some one like Bruce greenwald and Mark zurak, who has been the experts and teach this for living, can come up with better strategy

Vanguard etf funds have extreme low fees in comparison. It's not a bad idea depending on how active or passive, we may be with investment. I guess it is more comfort level with money. Predicting market and preparing for it will be the key

How are the returns? How is your IRA performing when compared against your previous service? My fidelity IRA performance is not that good. Looking for alternatives.

Betterment model is different. It is robo investing or algorithm based investing . They pick the portfolio based on your risk level and time horizon(like 30 yrs to retirement or 10 yrs to college etc). You don't take part in the asset allocation. You only chose the stock / bond portfolio ratio. The adjustment happens at 3% deviation measured once a day. If you are recurring, the new amount are used for adjustment. Other wise they sell and buy assets.

Just to give an idea,
My non-Ira recurring account has 7.5% returns (time weighted , 2yrs, 75% stocks 25% bond)
Traditional IRA has 7.3% returns(time weighted, 1 yr, 90% stock 10% bond)

they have a wonderful blog. It gives very clear details in simple terms..

In spirit of full disclosure, I started with them as a personal obligation but liked it over time. I only have 10% of my total assets with them. It did better compared to fidelity. Mass mutual and personal capital in the same time periods.

that's waste of money..simple vanguard s&p500,nasdaq funds would yield same results and u save on that 0.15% and whatever the mutual funds they invest charges..

variety ga undi...eppudu vinaledu. meeru vaadu tunnaara? How is it? Does he do the investing and balancing based on our selected goal?

I am using for past 5 yrs. I started with small recurring deposits and 2 yrs back moved my IRA. The main appeal is that it is simplistic. You choose your risk and they adjust. It started out as completely ETF based investing but they made few adjustments. the portfolio is auto adjusted based on selected risk profile.

how does it work..kaasta details shed please

Nothing great. Manani questions adigi depending on the answeres he will come up with a portfolio of mutual funds. Since no human is involved, it is also called a robo adviser. Since no humans are involved, the costs are lower.

As with any other investment you can choose recurring investment etc. I wanted to see how it will perform, so started with 1000$ and 25$ per week. Antha goppaga emi cheyyatledu. Ii year lo 4.3% return for my risk category

Why dont you to rollover to IRA instead of another 401K? More freedom of investment with IRA right?
