Recently, very well known Telugu news channels have fallen into clutches of loss and are unable to pay salaries to the full time journalists along with other co- staff. CVR news, I news and 6 TV fall into the same category. The news came to surface after CVR group of channels lately paid two months (June and July) of salary in mid August after the protests by the employees (god only knows about the following month’s salary). They had to approach TUWJ (Telanaga Union of Working Journalists) to solve their issues. TUWJ had approached CVR channels and discussed employee’s problems. CVR administration promised TUWJ to pay salaries on particular date but later failed to do so on prescribed time. Then on CVR employees staged silent protest without working from afternoon. CVR managing director came down from his adamant behavior and paid two months of salaries on the same day of protest. He issued salary cheques till midnight. Similar incident came into limelight about ‘I news’. The news channel has been postponing salaries to the employees since four months. ‘I news’ employees staged protest from late Friday night demanding issue of salary. ‘I news’ employees also approached TUWJ seeking their help in solving their grievances. I news management had a consolidated meeting with TUWJ and promised to provide salaries on Tuesday i.e., on 15th of September.
