let's say a hostile scenario becomes reality, and indonesia/malaysia/singapore combine to stop china route to malacca strait, US will support china trade anyway. probably takes 2-3 weeks to resolve the hostile war ships problem in the meanwhile, china can simply route everything through us west coast. For europe, they can go through panama canal. it'll cost them a little more, but it doesn't have the hassle of assembling thousands of trucks | ||

Theoretically what you said is correct. But 80% of Chinese exports, pass through Malacca straits, where China has no control, but ASEAN countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, US, India have control. China is threatened by this situation. The narrowest path in Malacca Straits is just 1.5 nautical miles. Simply 2 naval war ships can cut off China's trade route. So they are trying to create a more reliable land route where they have more control. Thats why they want CPEC to take off. Those numbers are wrong. It costs a lot more to transport by land than by water. And if I researched right, most of china's manufacturing is near their coast's, and an inland super highway is just junk with heavy maintenance costs. ee theory is an imagination, no real basis | ||

Gen VK Singh, when he was the army chief, thought through this scenario and thats when decided India will raise Mountain strike corps to defend Indian border with China and got a plan ready for 2 front war. According to defense analysts, there is a very good chance that China will join Pak to fight India, as India is targeting Balochistan, along with PoK, which will destabilize Chinese plans for future! But another view I read yesterday was, Gen Raheel Shariff, paki army chief, attacked India now because he wants to extend his tenure, which is otherwise ending in end of Nov 2016. UK army chief recently said Raheel is the greatest military commander today! I suspect, if Nawaz does not extend Raheel's tenure, there could be a coup!!
