Whats it all about?

A trio of girls VS A group of guys specifically and the society in general on the limits of what a Woman can do.

Plot:

Movie starts off with an incident where one of the girls, Tapsee, reacts involuntarily and injures a guy. The consequences of the act put Tapsee and her roommates into a quicksand with hardly any help from the society. DO they eventually get out of the mess with help from Good Samaritans like Amitabh even while debating pertinent moral questions on the perception of Women forms rest of the plot.

Performances:

Triad - The 3 Roommates steal the show rightly, especially Tapsee and the girl who plays Falak. They show a lot of determination, courage, insecurity and vulnerability in equal measure. Their act is as natural as they come.

Amitabh - A masterful performance befitting his stature. His make up especially is fantastic and resembles a Tired Old Man who struggles with his own demons and his wife's illness, all the while caring about those who need his help the most.

Rest - The rival Advocate though cliched, gives a thorough act. The villian and his friends are absolutely believable as the well connected rowdy gang from Delhi.

Analysis:

Once in a while there come movies, which are not just eligible to be watched along with families, but HAVE to be watched with families. Especially the women folk, as they deserve this.
I would say even throw in the kids for good measure hoping that they learn young.

In a country where perception of women is still largely based on clothing, which in many cases has justified acts of r@pe, it is still important to watch and understand movies like these, which while may not change the current scenario but atleast make people stop and question their own thought process.

One also realizes the harsh realities that women need to go through the minute they are 'independent' and if they deviate from the 'safe and expected' routes created by society.
And you shudder to think 'What if' our own family member/friend had to go through the same.

It a thoroughly engrossing movie but not without its flaws. Like how the tension in the 1st Half goes missing in the 2nd Half Court Room scenes. And a few cliched scenes like North Eastern Discrimination and $lutting the women which comes so easily.

It however is a movie that doent attempt to unravel a mystery, but rather focuses on the most basic questions simplified by Amitabh's 'Morality Laws'.

It is a honest film made and surely inspired by countless real life experiences that most of teh women have encountered.

Every man and woman shall relate themselves to some situation they've been in/seen/heard.

If we could have our young sons and daughters watch this and learn atleast 1% of the points trying to be made, it would be a job done.

Final Words:

Just watch it.

Kids:

Why not? especially the ones from 8 yrs...
