If inflation is 7% p.a, just to keep you at the same level as earlier in terms of cost of living, your salary would need to become 100 * 1.07^8 = 171.8 However the 0.2% growth (cumulative over 8 years) would mean that instead of 171.8 you are now getting 172.16 (171.8*1.002). Basically your salary increases have just about barely managed to keep you in the same place.
Govt. jobs are good, even govt. teachers get very good pensions nowadays. | ||
