Just to give a simple analogy, 13 districts AP and 10 districts TS have "approximate ratio" of 58:42 in size and population. So, if u go by same analogy, TS 88,550 crore means, by same ratio, AP revenue receipts should have been 122283 crore. While most of the people in AP unequivocally say - AP needs special status, seems there is a need to educate some people in DB as they are strongly advocating AP doesnt need special status. So, pulling some pointers from my notes prepared during civils preparation.. First thing - it is NOT Special status - it is Special Category Status. These 2 are two different things in Polity. Pawan Kalyan is raising emotions, but not communicating real need of Special Status. Sivaji youtube and adapa dadapa programs lo need of special status cheptunnadu, but he cannot evoke emotions and need like PK. Jagan is doing it for political mileage but at heart doesnt really care on it. TDP wants to do like "chattam tana pani taanu chesukuntoo potundi" If AP really needs special status, TDP should work the same way, but PK should own the movement, that way he will get needed support within AP from Govt (though passive) and TDP can still play a role of managing cordial relations with centre and get what ever it can get, in case SS doesnt come through. Whats surprising is, nobody is really talking about essence of why we need special status. The most important profit if special status is given is, tax benefits that will be given to corporates who come to invest in AP. Filling in revenue deficit is rubbish. Its like saying, neeku unde bokkalu nenu teerustaa, but neeku dabbulu vache margam maatram allow cheyyanu. Revenue deficit will continue to exist if state doesnt get additional income. By reorg act, centre will help may be 5 year, but how can we become net positive by then?
