not for the initial process. 2 steps untai..OCI generation from india next match up so for the longer process u dont need to send US original passport. attested copy is fine..after they receive the OCI from india(which took 4 weeks for me), they will ask u to send original us passport again along with few other papers..then they will match and send you OCI Happy Vizag | ||

their website is pretty good..just follow that..buy shipment from them only so that its all their responsibility. you need 3 shiopments..first u buy 2 (sending initial, receving oci)..for matchup antther to send the docs to ckgs.(you buy oneway second time).. include the shipment proof, payment proof etc when you send docs for matchup.. Don't agree with this...take a look at the documentation required for OCI application (which i recently did) I had to submit 3 separate passport copies (one notarized, one to prove my indian nationality and one as part of my daughters passport) okka copy teesukoni...anni sections ki adhey vaadukoni chaavaru...each section separate laa treat chestharu...OCI documentation checklist choodandi almost 3 pages untundhi... USA passport india OCI card kantey important adhi only birth certificate and one page application tho ichesthadu...there is a lot to improve regarding this... inka cheppali antey OCI matchup --- already kid passport notarize chesi pampisthamu...malli matchup ki original passport pampinchamanatam joke... bottom line Indian government loves paperwork | ||

Earlier this process was more complicated and the result was too much time taking. Sushma Swaraj responded to a tweet and simplified the process and streamlined that it now takes less than 4 weeks including OCI matchup..
