In 2009 it was the same story, our entire group was laid off from the level of VP and down. In reality its a relocation, not a layoff. Each position was opepend either in the RTP or in India. Folks were given an option to APPLY for the SAME position(from which they are being laid off) in RTP/India where ever it was REOPENED. If we apply, its a direct posting, if not.. having fun. But it was a HELL LOT of severns package. One Stanford grad(started with grade 6 in my team 3 years back to that time), hit a gold pot by racking up around 6 months package and an immediate next day job in Palm, Inc. Cisco really plays re-structuring in the name of layoffs. Last week a classmate of mine who has been working with Cisco since 1993 has left for Intel. He was the biggest loser now since if he would have laid off in this sweep, he might have racked up a SUPER HELL LOT of severns package. But he got unimaginable offer from Intel though. | ||
