As i said couple of days back, they are completely unrelated. Special Status states get a bunch of benefits like Income tax holiday for upto 10 years for all units in the state, capital investment subsidy, excise duty exemptions, transport subsidy etc. Of these, things like excise duty benefits might go away as the GST would subsume excise duty. But for the most part, the other exemptions are not related to GST which is an indirect tax legislation and all the direct tax exemptions can continue. And the central govt. can still continue the excise duty benefits too by providing them as a cash back, there innumerable ways of providing that subsidy. All in all, if anyone is saying the GST means No Special Status, does not know his ass from his elbow. | ||

There's no way such an exemption can be given. The whole purpose of GST would be defeated if we don't make a unified market out of India. Moreover, the states without specify category status would oppose this idea tooth and nail. Jaggu is an intellectual of his own might, he can say anything because he knows English.
