You can do nothing....just pray nothing like that happens! Take my friend's case, he started worrying for his car which was a NEW MAZDA he bought for 29K...than his car totalled and he got 22K from other guy's insurance company! But my friend's trouble started after 3 weeks...started having bad back and what not...ippatiki doctors chuttu tiruguthunnadu and he made sure the insurance claim is NOT CLOSED even after 1 year! In your case you say other guy's vehicle is FORD FORESTER and that's a relief as it is BIG VEHICLE and they may not have big jolt for bad back etc. Also, NALLODU antunnav...papam mari vedavalu undaru like some tellollu...so chill! | ||

The other person seems to be decent fellow..nallode.. His insurance said total loss and pay him 2500. He wants to fix on his own from junkyard. He will take what ever insurance gives him...r only damage is back door of van which is not opening. He sort of agreed to take deductible from me and get money from his insurance and repair on his own.. No injuries at all. Mav In your case I am hoping it is NOT a major collision and hope the other party is a decent/considerate person. I am not worried of you bearing all the repair costs (which for other car may come to 3-4K at the MAX and your car of course you have to fix), I am also not worried about you going to court as you easily can convince very very small lapse in coverage due to communication gap, pay some 200-300 fine and come out! WHAT I AM WORRIED IS IF OTHER PERSON COMPLAINS WHIPLASH AND GOES TO DOCTOR....IF THOSE COME ON YOU (WHICH YES WOULD COME ON YOU) YOU ARE IN BIG SOUP!! So, pray nothing like this happens! Thammi.. sad to find your situation. Wishing good luck in dealing with it. Naa MBA class lo master garu chepparu "Insurance is the best profitable business in the world. The essence of business is.. to get more premium paid and to deny the best possible lot of the claims". Thats why a lot of terms and conditions in your insurance underwriting agreement papers which we sign at the end of the papers stack and never revisit them. OP Thammi: Try to MANAGE your issues one by one. 1) Your opponent car damage issue 2) Your Police citation for not having insurance 3) Your car damage issue. Start with an understanding that you may end up in some expense but try for the options to minimize the damage, but dont start with how to ESCAPE out of it. 2) Your police citation may work out with some fine or none but thats the best to start positive. 1) Other driver damaged vehicle: Try to work with them, buy their van outright(as you said it values one or two grands) and have them to sign a FULL and FINAL release at a notary. 3) For your vehicle, get a good and reasonable desi mechanic and get it estimated. Keep that estimate as your worst case option. Talk to Progressive and try to explain that your out of country without any communication situation. Tell them that you will send the flight tickets and Passport stamping etc to prove your out of country. Also try to be nice and keep talking to the highest possible authority in the insurance chain. Usually there will be 60 or 90 days coverage after the last date of paid premium period. Do some research. This is a soft issue. If Progressive go by book, you will be out of luck. But you need to talk to them A LOT. Also try to do it on emails (for the proof as much a you can). If they didnt agree for it, ask them to get the Progressive estimate of the damage at least. If it gets say $2K, you can negotiate with them for $1.5K etc for full release. If they agree for some settlement at least, get the cash settlement and get your car fixed by the above Desi Mechanic. This is just my plan if I wear your dirty shoes on that day :-) j/k . If you properly plan and set your mind right and work on it, you can MANAGE it eventually. Again, Good luck | ||

Try to negotiate with Progressive. Hopes levvu bcoz the policy has been cancelled... explain that u were not aware of the cancellation since u didnt have access to email. The good thing I see here is there is no police case... had cops been involved, insurance ledu ani adi inko nuisance... so here is the deal.. i switched to progressive this year and initially signed up for some snapshot device program..they will give you a device and u need to plug it ot the car, it will track the driving and based on that they give you a price...so based on that, my rate is say 500$. i paid that in full. they gave the device, but i could never plug it and essentially sent it without using. they took off the discount and added the difference back say 50$ to the account. my unpaid balance is 50$. i was not aware of this. on 7/17 my policy was cancelled due to non payment of this difference i was out of country for a month(6/18 to 7/21)..and i came back yesterday and was in a collision. i caused it..not a major one, but i rear ended a van..dents to it and my van had more damage... when i checked for my policy i saw its not covered..i called progressive and made the payment but its effective from the midnight..7/22. they took my claim,but its not tied to my policy..how does it work now? would that be a coverage during lapse as it was only 4 days? or am i without a coverage?
